Description

Econo Utility Scissors are a multipurpose instrument used for cutting non-sterile materials such as dressings, casts, and surgical drapes. These scissors are angled and have one serrated blade and one smooth blade. The flattened, wide, blunt tip on the serrated blade greatly reduces the likelihood of skin being nicked if the scissors are used for cutting material that is on the patient, such as clothing or bandages. They should never be used to cut tissue or sutures. One plastic finger ring is larger than the other for maximized control while cutting. Econo instruments are Sklar's floor-grade, disposable instruments and are sold in bulk quantities. This item is sold in boxes of 50.

Frequently asked questions

Are these scissors safe for use on patients?

Yes, these scissors are specifically engineered for patient safety. They feature a flattened, wide, blunt tip that allows the blade to glide under dressings, casts, or clothing without the risk of nicking the skin.

What type of blade configuration is used for cutting?

The scissors utilize a specialized dual-blade design to ensure precise and efficient cutting:

  • One serrated blade: Provides extra grip on tough medical materials.
  • One smooth blade: Ensures a clean, controlled cut.
  • Angled geometry: Optimized for maneuverability when working against skin.
Are these scissors comfortable for extended use?

Yes, they are designed with ergonomic asymmetrical plastic finger rings. One ring is larger than the other, which allows for enhanced grip, better control, and reduced fatigue during repetitive cutting tasks.

Can I use these for surgical tissue or sutures?

No. These scissors are strictly intended for non-sterile materials such as dressings, bandages, casts, and clothing. They should not be used on human tissue or for surgical sutures.

Is the material free from natural rubber latex?

Yes, the Econo Multi-Cut Utility Scissors are not made with natural rubber latex, making them a safe choice for environments with latex-sensitive staff or patients.

Are these durable enough for clinical environments?

These are Sklar floor-grade instruments that combine high-quality stainless steel blades with durable, professional-grade plastic handles. They are built specifically to handle the demands of busy medical facilities.

Are these scissors sterile upon arrival?

No, these scissors are non-sterile. They are designed for use on non-sterile materials in clinical settings.

What is the primary benefit of the disposable design?

The disposable nature of these scissors provides a cost-effective and efficient solution for high-volume clinical environments, eliminating the need for complex decontamination or sterilization cycles between uses.
