Description

Econo Utility Scissors are a multipurpose instrument used for cutting non-sterile materials such as dressings, casts, and surgical drapes. These scissors are angled and have one serrated blade and one smooth blade. The flattened, wide, blunt tip on the serrated blade greatly reduces the likelihood of skin being nicked if the scissors are used for cutting material that is on the patient, such as clothing or bandages. They should never be used to cut tissue or sutures. One plastic finger ring is larger than the other for maximized control while cutting. Econo instruments are Sklar's floor-grade, disposable instruments and are sold in bulk quantities. This item is sold in boxes of 12.

Can I use these for delicate surgical procedures?

No, these are strictly for non-sterile, external use only. They are intended for cutting non-tissue materials such as:

  • Surgical drapes
  • Casts
  • Dressings and bandages
  • Clothing

Note: These should never be used for cutting sutures or internal tissue.

What is the benefit of the dual-blade design?

The scissors feature a combination of one serrated blade and one smooth blade. This design provides superior grip and control, making them highly effective for cutting through a variety of non-tissue materials with ease and precision.

Is the handle designed for comfortable operation?

Yes, they feature an ergonomic handle design with finger rings of different sizes. This allows for better leverage and maximized control during cutting operations.

Are these scissors made with latex?

No, these scissors are 100% latex-free and not made with natural rubber latex, making them suitable for use in environments where latex sensitivities are a concern.

Are these durable enough for heavy-duty utility tasks?

While these are designed as disposable floor-grade instruments, they are constructed from high-quality stainless steel, ensuring they remain sturdy and effective for their intended utility tasks throughout their single use.

How many pairs come in a single box?

Each box contains 12 units, making them an efficient and cost-effective choice for high-volume clinical or medical settings.

What does the angled profile provide for the user?

The angled design improves visibility and access when working near the patient, allowing for a more natural hand position while removing bandages, casts, or dressings.

Are these scissors sterile upon arrival?

No, these are provided as non-sterile instruments. They are intended for applications where sterility is not required, such as general external cutting tasks.

Why is the lime green color useful in a clinical setting?

The lime green color provides high visual contrast, allowing for easy identification of these disposable tools among other standard silver surgical instruments, helping staff quickly distinguish them as dedicated utility scissors.
