Description

Econo Lorna-Edna towel clamps are a non-perforating clamp used to secure instruments, tubing, and towels to the drape surrounding a surgical site. The jaws and tips are curved while the shanks and handle are flat so they can rest on the patient. The teeth on the tips of this towel clamp are blunted so they grip tightly but do not penetrate the surgical drape. They also have ratcheted finger ring handles so a firm hold can be secured. This clamp should never be used on skin. Econo instruments are Sklar's floor-grade, disposable instruments sold in bulk quantities

Frequently asked questions

Does the non-perforating design compromise grip strength?

Not at all. While the blunted, serrated tips are specifically engineered to be non-perforating, they provide a firm and secure grip on surgical drapes and tubing. The inclusion of a reliable ratchet system ensures the clamp stays locked in the desired position throughout the procedure.

Can these clamps be used on a patient's skin?

No. These instruments are strictly intended for securing surgical drapes, tubing, and lightweight equipment only. They should never be used on human skin or tissue.

Are these clamps made with latex?

No, these towel clamps are not made with natural rubber latex, making them a safe choice for environments that require latex-free instrumentation.

How does the 'curved on flat' design benefit the surgeon?

The ‘curved on flat’ design is specifically intended for patient comfort and surgical efficiency:

The curved jaws allow for optimal positioning of drapes and tubing.

The flat shanks and handles allow the instrument to lay flush against the patient, preventing snagging or discomfort during the procedure.

Are these instruments suitable for sterile environments?

These clamps arrive non-sterile. They are designed for clinical settings where disposable instrumentation is preferred to streamline workflows and reduce the need for reprocessing high-volume surgical tools.

Is the stainless steel construction durable?

Yes, these Econo Lorna (Edna) clamps are constructed from high-quality stainless steel. Despite being disposable, they offer the professional feel and reliability of standard surgical instrumentation.

How many clamps come in a single box?

Each order includes a convenient box of 12 individual towel clamps, providing a cost-effective solution for high-volume surgical or clinical environments.

Will these clamps cause glare under surgical lights?

The instruments feature a semi-matte, polished stainless steel finish, which is intentionally designed to minimize glare and reflection under bright clinical lighting.

Does the ratchet system provide consistent tension?

Yes, the instruments are equipped with ratcheted finger ring handles that allow clinicians to lock the clamp into a secure position, ensuring a firm and constant hold on drapes or equipment.

What is the primary benefit of the Econo floor-grade line?

The Econo line offers significant workflow advantages by providing a disposable, single-use option that eliminates the time, cost, and logistics associated with cleaning, sterilizing, and reprocessing surgical tools.
