Description

Econo Gelpi Retractor is a ratcheted, finger ring retractor often used in smaller surgical sites. Once the targeted tissue has been held back, the locking mechanism allows the retractor to remain in place, and does not require someone to hold it during the procedure. The Gelpi retractor has a single sharp prong on each tip that is turned outward, sideways, at a 90 degree angle. Econo instruments are Sklar's floor-grade, disposable instruments and are sold in bulk quantities. This product is straight with 1 sharp prong on each tip and a length of 7 inches. It is sold in boxes of 12.

Frequently asked questions

Does this retractor offer hands-free retraction?

Yes, it features a robust ratcheted locking mechanism. This allows the instrument to securely maintain tissue retraction on its own, freeing up your hands for other aspects of the procedure.

Is this retractor safe for those with latex allergies?

Absolutely. This product is 100% latex-free and is not manufactured with natural rubber latex, ensuring safety for patients and staff with latex sensitivities.

Are the tips designed for precise tissue engagement?

Yes, the tips are specifically engineered with single sharp prongs that are angled outward at a 90-degree angle. This configuration, combined with the pointed working edge, allows for precise and secure engagement with tissue in small surgical sites.

Is this suitable for high-volume surgical settings?

Yes, these are categorized as Econo floor-grade instruments. They are specifically designed for high-turnover, cost-sensitive environments where the efficiency of disposable tools is preferred over repetitive cleaning and sterilization.

Are these retractors sterile upon arrival?

These units are supplied in a non-sterile condition. Please ensure they undergo the appropriate sterilization process required for your specific facility’s protocols before use in any surgical procedure.

How many retractors come in a standard order?

Each box contains 12 individual retractors, making it a convenient and economical choice for stocking your surgical supply.

Is the 7-inch length ideal for specific types of surgery?

The 7-inch length is specifically optimized for smaller surgical sites. It provides the necessary reach and leverage for precise retraction without being overly bulky in confined areas.

What is the primary benefit of the disposable design?

The disposable nature of these retractors minimizes cleaning, maintenance, and sterilization requirements. This saves valuable time and resources, particularly in high-volume environments.

How secure is the locking mechanism?

The instrument uses a toothed rack and pawl system. Once the desired level of retraction is achieved, the pawl engages with the rack to lock the retractor firmly in place, ensuring it remains stable throughout the surgery.

Is the handle easy to manipulate?

Yes, the handle features classic finger ring loops. This design allows for a secure, comfortable grip and easy manual manipulation when setting the instrument to the required tension.
