Description

The Zoll R Series Plus Defibrillator with Expansion Pack combines the one-button AED simplicity of the BLS R Series Defibrillator with all of the capability and sophistication of the R Series ALS.

Note: Batteries not included. The Zoll SurePower Rechargeable Lithium Ion Battery Pack (#8019-0535-01) may be purchased separately and is compatible with R Series, E Series, and AED Pro Defibrillators.

Warranty: 5 Years - Free from Defects in Material and Workmanship.

Real CPR Help and See-Thru CPR technology allow the rescuer to see depth and rate of compression as well as monitor underlying ECG rhythm while performing CPR. See-Thru CPR reduces the duration of pauses during CPR so rescuers are able to see whether an organized underlying rhythm has developed without stopping compressions. Real CPR Help guides rescuers with text and audio feedback on CPR quality measures with numeric data based on real time depth and rate of compressions.

The R Series Plus Defibrillator also features Rectilinear Biphasic Waveform (RBW) that was designed for external defibrillation to control for variations in patient impedance through a series of digitally-controlled internal resistors. This feature provides the maximum average current held for the optimum duration. RBW provides more current than the typical "high energy" biphasic that other defibrillators use, and has proven to be more effective than monophasic waveforms, especially on high-impedance patients.

The R Series works with the Zoll OneStep Pacing system. With OneStep Pacing and Zoll OneStep electrodes, the need for a separate ECG cable is eliminated. The ECG electrodes are incorporated with an anterior OneStep electrode. The electrodes are triangular and incorporate a circular multi-function therapy electrode in the middle and three ECG electrodes at the ends of the triangular electrode pad shape. While the therapy portion emits a pacing pulse, the ECG electrodes acquire signals from the heart and function as the monitoring element. Electrodes for this function are sold separately from the defibrillator unit.

Optional Advanced Monitoring Parameters:

  • Pulse Oximetry (SpO2): Provides fast and accurate means of continuous and non-invasive monitoring of patients who are at risk for developing hypoxemia. SpO2 possesses adult, pediatric, and neonatal capabilities, and monitors both ECG rate and pulse rate when pacing. It includes a reusable adult sensor and 4 foot extension cable.
  • End-Tidal (EtCO2) Mainstream Technology: Provides continuous end-tidal CO2 monitoring and diagnostic information with a Respironics CAPNOSTAT 5 sensor (*adapters not included). EtCO2 is for use with adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients.
  • Non-Invasive Blood Pressure (NIBP): Provides and displays readings of systolic, diastolic, and mean blood pressure and displays history of NIBP measurements taken in the last few hours. It includes a 23 to 33 cm reusable cuff, 3 meter air hose, and RMT motion tolerance. NIBP is for use on adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients.

Frequently asked questions

How does Real CPR Help ensure quality compressions?

The Real CPR Help technology provides objective, real-time feedback to rescuers, ensuring chest compressions meet current clinical guidelines and maximizing resuscitation quality. It helps improve compressions through:

  • Performance Metrics: Displays numeric data on the exact depth and rate of compressions.
  • Actionable Guidance: Provides clear audio cues and text prompts, allowing rescuers to immediately correct their technique.

This unit also integrates See-Thru CPR technology, which complements Real CPR Help by filtering out compression artifacts. This enables clinicians to continuously monitor the patient’s underlying ECG rhythm without stopping chest compressions, minimizing crucial hands-off time.

Does See-Thru CPR effectively reduce interruptions?

Yes, the See-Thru CPR feature is designed to significantly reduce interruptions during chest compressions by allowing continuous rhythm monitoring.

It achieves this by:

  • Filtering Artifacts: The technology filters out the compression artifact noise from the ECG signal.
  • Continuous Monitoring: Clinicians can monitor the patient’s underlying cardiac rhythm without pausing compressions.

By enabling rhythm checks without stopping chest compressions, See-Thru CPR maximizes compression time, which is critical for enhancing overall resuscitation quality and efficiency.

Can the R Series Plus support advanced patient monitoring?

Yes, the Zoll R Series Plus Defibrillator is highly adaptable, designed to transition easily from basic life support (BLS) to a sophisticated Advanced Life Support (ALS) system.

While the base unit includes standard ECG monitoring via a 3-lead cable with AHA markings, it supports optional modules for comprehensive patient monitoring:

  • Pulse Oximetry ($ ext{SpO}_2$): Essential for non-invasive oxygen saturation tracking.
  • End-Tidal ($ ext{EtCO}_2$) Mainstream Technology: For measuring carbon dioxide levels.
  • Non-Invasive Blood Pressure (NIBP): For reliable blood pressure readings.
Does the defibrillator use an effective biphasic waveform?

Yes, the Zoll R Series Plus Defibrillator uses a Rectilinear Biphasic Waveform (RBW). This advanced waveform is designed to deliver more current than typical biphasic waveforms, which significantly enhances its effectiveness, especially for patients with high impedance.

How does OneStep Pacing streamline setup?

The Zoll OneStep Pacing system is designed to significantly reduce critical setup time by integrating monitoring capabilities directly into the therapy electrode.

This innovative approach streamlines pacing procedures by:

  • Eliminating the need for a separate ECG 3-lead cable for monitoring when the OneStep electrodes are in use.
  • Integrating the necessary ECG monitoring electrodes directly onto the therapy pads.

This simplified design allows clinicians to initiate pacing and monitor the patient’s cardiac rhythm more quickly and efficiently.

Is a battery included with the Zoll R Series Plus Defibrillator?

No, the Zoll R Series Plus Defibrillator does not include a battery in its standard shipment. The unit comes equipped with integrated AC power (120 VAC / 60 Hz) for operation when connected to a wall outlet.

For portable use or mobile operation, compatible batteries must be purchased separately.

Does this device support both BLS and ALS care?

Yes, the Zoll R Series Plus is specifically engineered as a versatile, scalable solution for both Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) environments. Its flexible architecture allows it to function as a simple AED for first responders while maintaining the sophisticated monitoring and pacing capabilities required by advanced medical teams.

Can I upgrade the monitor's capabilities over time?

Yes, the Zoll R Series Plus is built on a modular platform, which offers the flexibility to scale your device from BLS to ALS configurations as your clinical needs evolve. You can opt for various configurations that include specialized monitoring functions such as:

  • SpO2 (Pulse Oximetry)
  • EtCO2 (End-Tidal CO2)
  • NIBP (Non-Invasive Blood Pressure)

This adaptability ensures that your investment remains relevant and effective in high-acuity environments as your requirements change.

Does it offer advanced data reporting?

Yes, the Zoll R Series Plus Defibrillator is designed for efficient data management to support quality assurance and code readiness.

Key reporting and connectivity features include:

  • RescueNet CaseReview: This advanced capability automatically captures, tracks, and aggregates code data, allowing for easy transfer over a facility’s WiFi network for clinical review and quality improvement initiatives. (Note: A separate modem is required for WiFi connectivity.)
  • Code Readiness Testing: An integrated system automatically performs self-tests on over 100 parameters to ensure the unit is always fully operational and ready for use.
  • Physical Data Transfer: The unit provides essential physical ports, including a USB port and a Compact Flash slot, for storage and manual data transfer.
Does it self-test for readiness?

Yes, the Zoll R Series Plus Defibrillator features a built-in test that performs self-tests on over 100 parameters to ensure it’s always ready for use.
