Description

The Valleylab AirForce E3510 Prefilter (#901202-000) is a non-sterile, single use (disposable) replacement smoke prefilter for use with the AirForce Replacement ULPA Filter and AirForce System. It is recommended for low plume electrosurgical procedures.

In the filtration system for the smoke evacuator, the removal of the particulate matter and odors found in laser plume or surgical smoke occurs in two filter stages. In the first filtration stage, the replaceable HEPA prefilter removes particles down to 0.3 microns thus capturing a large percentage of the particulate matter. In the second filtration stage, the primary ULPA filter removes the remaining particles as well as the odors and gases associated with surgical smoke plume. The primary benefit to removing the surgical smoke in two filtration stages is that the prefilter ensures the optimum performance and useful life of the more expensive ULPA filter.

Surgimedics prefilters are designed to provide visual indication that the prefilter needs to be replaced. When you notice that the top layer of the filter media is covered with dark brown or black sediment, it is time to change the prefilter. The useful life of a Surgimedics prefilter is recommended for single use. All prefilters are easily replaced, which can be quickly done during a procedure if necessary.

Frequently asked questions

Does the prefilter extend ULPA filter life?

Yes, the Valleylab AirForce E3510 Prefilter is crucial for maximizing the longevity and performance of your AirForce smoke evacuation system. It serves as the essential first stage in the two-stage filtration process.

Its primary benefits are:

  • ULPA Filter Protection: By capturing the bulk of contaminants, it significantly reduces the load on the subsequent, more costly ULPA filter, ensuring its optimum performance and extending its operational lifespan.
  • High-Efficiency Filtration: It effectively removes particulate matter found in surgical smoke, capturing particles as small as 0.3 microns.

This is a non-sterile, disposable component. Replacement is easily determined by observing the visual replacement indicator: the filter should be replaced when the top layer of media shows dark brown or black sediment saturation.

How many prefilters are included per box?

Each box of Valleylab AirForce E3510 Prefilters contains 30 individual units.

Is the Valleylab E3510 Prefilter sterile?

No, the Valleylab AirForce E3510 Prefilter is non-sterile.

This component is designed for single use as the first stage in a two-stage smoke evacuation system. Its primary role is to capture particulate matter down to 0.3 microns, which significantly extends the useful life of the subsequent, more costly ULPA filter.

Which AirForce models use this prefilter?

This prefilter is specifically designed for use with the Valleylab AirForce System smoke evacuation unit. It serves as the initial filtration stage, primarily intended to protect and extend the useful life of the subsequent AirForce Replacement ULPA Filter.

Is the Valleylab AirForce E3510 Prefilter reusable?

No, the Valleylab AirForce E3510 Prefilter is strictly a single-use, disposable component. It is non-sterile and designed to function as the first stage of filtration in a two-stage smoke evacuation system.

Key details regarding usage and replacement:

  • Purpose: It captures particulate matter down to 0.3 microns, which significantly preserves and extends the lifespan of the more expensive primary ULPA filter.
  • Replacement Cue: The prefilter features a visual indicator—it will darken (turning dark brown or black sediment) when it has reached capacity and requires prompt replacement to maintain system performance.
What is the AirForce E3510 Prefilter port size?

The Valleylab AirForce E3510 Prefilter features a 1 1/3” port size for connecting to the smoke evacuation system. These disposable prefilters are supplied in boxes of 30 units.

Is the E3510 Prefilter an ULPA filter?

No, the Valleylab AirForce E3510 Prefilter is not an ULPA filter. It is designed to function as the first stage of filtration in the two-stage smoke evacuation system.

Its primary role is to act as a prefilter, maximizing the useful life of the separate, more costly ULPA filter by performing initial particulate capture. Key features include:

  • Filtration Capability: Captures particulate matter down to 0.3 microns.
  • System Role: Protects and extends the life of the subsequent AirForce Replacement ULPA Filter.
  • Replacement Cue: The filter media darkens (dark brown or black sediment) when replacement is necessary, offering a clear visual indicator.
Does this AirForce prefilter use activated carbon?

The Valleylab AirForce E3510 Prefilter does not contain activated carbon. Its function is primarily focused on particulate filtration as the initial stage in the two-stage smoke evacuation system.

Key features and benefits of this prefilter include:

  • High-Efficiency Filtration: It captures particulate matter, effectively removing particles down to 0.3 microns.
  • ULPA Filter Protection: This critical initial stage prevents excessive loading on the more expensive primary ULPA filter, maximizing its operational life and maintaining optimal performance.
  • Easy Replacement Cue: The filter should be replaced when the media shows visual signs of saturation, appearing as dark brown or black sediment.
  • Packaging: This product is supplied in a box containing 30 prefilters, which are non-sterile and recommended for single use.
Is the prefilter designed for single use?

Yes, the Valleylab AirForce E3510 Prefilter is a non-sterile, single-use disposable component designed for use in two-stage smoke evacuation systems.

Key features related to its function and replacement include:

  • Filtration Benefit: It acts as the first stage of filtration, capturing particles down to 0.3 microns. This significantly preserves the lifespan and optimum performance of the primary ULPA filter.
  • Visual Indicator: Replacement is simple and guided by a visual cue. When the prefilter is saturated, the media will visibly darken with accumulated sediment, appearing as dark brown or black.

The prefilters are supplied in boxes of 30 individual units.

Does the prefilter effectively capture fine particles?

Yes, the Valleylab AirForce E3510 Prefilter is designed for highly effective particulate capture as the crucial first stage in a two-stage smoke evacuation system.

  • Filtration Efficiency: The prefilter captures particulate matter down to 0.3 microns.
  • System Benefit: By removing the majority of fine debris, the prefilter significantly extends the useful life and maintains the optimum performance of the subsequent, more expensive primary ULPA filter.
  • Replacement Indicator: The filter media darkens with use (turning dark brown or black), providing a clear visual cue when replacement is necessary.
