Description

The TIDI Posey HeadStart Notification Bed Sensor is a belt-like sensor that is fastened to the fall-risk patient and alerts nurses or caregivers when that patient attempts to exit a bed unassisted. It's compatible with Posey Alarms and available in two sizes to accommodate a wide variety of patients.

The TIDI Posey HeadStart Notification Bed Sensor features an inner Orthowick layer, which has moisture-wicking abilities and softness that's gentle on sensitive skin. It's also easy to wipe clean and safely low friction, as well as user-friendly for caregivers to apply with a hook-and-loop fastener. In an emergency, the patient can self-release from the sensor belt. In normal circumstances, the first release will trigger the alarm alert, and a secondary release will provide some time for the nurse or caregiver to react before exiting.

Frequently asked questions

Does the HeadStart sensor have patient self-release capability?

Yes, the TIDI Posey HeadStart Notification Bed Sensor is designed with multiple safety considerations, including patient self-release capability in emergencies. This allows patients to quickly release the sensor belt if necessary.

Furthermore, the sensor uses a critical dual-release mechanism to manage fall risk and ensure timely intervention by caregivers:

  • Primary Release: The initial detachment of the sensor triggers the associated Posey Alarm system immediately.
  • Secondary Release: A subsequent, full release provides staff with a brief window of reaction time to intervene before the patient fully exits the bed unassisted.
Is the HeadStart Sensor compatible with Posey Alarms?

Yes, the TIDI Posey HeadStart Notification Bed Sensor is designed for seamless integration with existing safety protocols. It is fully compatible with Posey Alarm systems.

Key features regarding compatibility and function include:

  • The belt acts as the essential trigger mechanism, immediately notifying clinical staff if a fall-risk patient attempts an unassisted exit from the bed.
  • This specialized sensor is built to work directly with Posey Alarms to enhance monitoring effectiveness.
Does the sensor belt feature a secure closure system?

Yes, the TIDI Posey HeadStart Notification Bed Sensor features a closure system designed for both security and caregiver convenience:

  • The belt uses a hook-and-loop fastener system (often referred to as Velcro-style).
  • This design ensures a simple, quick application for clinical staff while maintaining a secure fit on fall-risk patients.
Does the sensor provide immediate caregiver notification?

Yes, the TIDI Posey HeadStart Sensor is engineered for immediate caregiver notification when a fall-risk patient attempts an unassisted bed exit. This rapid response is critical for fall mitigation.

A key safety feature is its Dual-Release Safety Mechanism, which is designed to maximize the staff’s reaction time:

  • Initial Release: The first detachment instantly triggers the alarm notification through a connected Posey Alarm system.
  • Secondary Release: A subsequent, full release provides caregivers with a crucial window of time to reach the patient before they fully exit the bed.

This belt-like sensor ensures ease of use for clinical staff with a simple hook-and-loop fastener and is compatible with existing Posey Alarms.

Does the inner Orthowick layer maximize comfort?

Yes, the TIDI Posey HeadStart Notification Bed Sensor features a specialized inner layer made from Orthowick material. This design prioritizes patient comfort and skin integrity, especially for those requiring continuous monitoring. The Orthowick layer offers several benefits:

  • Soft and Gentle: It is formulated to be soft and gentle on sensitive skin.
  • Moisture-Wicking: It actively wicks away moisture, promoting hygiene and comfort during prolonged use.
  • Low Friction: The material has low-friction properties, further minimizing the risk of skin irritation.
Is the sensor easy to wipe clean?

Yes, the TIDI Posey HeadStart Notification Bed Sensor is designed for simple, hygienic maintenance. Its surface is easy to wipe clean, allowing for quick sanitation in clinical environments.

How does the safety dual-release work?

The TIDI Posey HeadStart sensor utilizes a unique dual-release safety mechanism designed to ensure timely caregiver intervention during an attempted unassisted bed exit:

  1. Primary Release (Notification): The initial detachment of the sensor instantly triggers the alarm on compatible Posey Alarm systems, alerting staff immediately.
  2. Secondary Release (Intervention Window): A subsequent, full release provides a brief time delay, offering caregivers a crucial response window to reach the patient before they fully exit the bed.

For added safety, the sensor also features a separate Patient Emergency Release capability, allowing the patient to quickly self-release the belt in an emergency.

What adjustable sizes are available?

The Posey HeadStart Notification Bed Sensor is designed to accommodate a wide range of patients and is available in two adjustable sizes:

  • Standard Size: Adjusts from 28 inches to 48 inches (28” - 48”).
  • Large Size: Adjusts from 44 inches to 64 inches (44” - 64”).

These options ensure a proper and secure fit for effective patient mobility monitoring.

Is the material gentle on sensitive skin?

Yes, the TIDI Posey HeadStart Notification Bed Sensor is designed with an inner Orthowick layer that is soft and gentle on sensitive skin, providing moisture-wicking properties to enhance patient comfort and maintain skin integrity.

Does it prevent falls effectively?

Yes, this sensor is a crucial fall prevention device. It immediately triggers an alarm notification when a patient attempts to exit the bed unassisted, allowing caregivers to intervene promptly and reduce fall risks.
