Description

The Surgimedics 1 1/3" x 6' Vacuum Tubing with Integral Wand & Sponge Guard (#905048-000) is compatible with all smoke evacuators with a 1 1/3" port.

Surgimedics offers a wide selection of vacuum hose, medical tubing, adapters, and collection wands for efficient capture of the airborne contaminants and odor found in surgical smoke when used with a smoke evacuator. To maximize flow rates and to minimize noise levels, Surgimedics' tubing is offered with a smooth bore inner surface. And with a number of adapters and reducers also available, Surgimedics provides optimum flexibility in choosing the right tubing for each laser or electrosurgical procedure.

Using the right tubing size or positioning the tubing in the right location is as critical to efficient smoke evacuation as the smoke evacuator's filter. A filtration system can remove particulate matter or odor from surgical smoke only if it has been captured by the collection device. Every effort, then, should be made to position the tubing as close as possible to the procedure site to maximize the amount of surgical smoke captured. The further a hose or tubing is from the procedure site, the efficiency of the smoke evacuator will decrease significantly, allowing laser plume or surgical smoke to escape into the room.

Frequently asked questions

Does this tubing fit 1 1/3-inch smoke evacuator ports?

Yes, this tubing is designed for broad compatibility and will integrate seamlessly with all smoke evacuators featuring a 1 1/3-inch port.

Each box includes five single-use assemblies, optimized for high-performance surgical smoke evacuation:

  • Optimized Performance: The tubing features a smooth bore inner surface specifically engineered to maximize flow rates and minimize operational noise during suction.
  • Complete Assembly: Each unit is 6 feet long and includes an integral collection wand and a bright yellow sponge guard for efficient plume capture near the procedure site.
Is this tubing optimized for smoke evacuation?

Yes, this Surgimedics vacuum tubing is specifically intended for efficient surgical smoke evacuation, designed to capture airborne contaminants and odors generated during laser or electrosurgical procedures.

Key features that optimize its performance include:

  • Maximized Flow: The tubing features a smooth bore inner surface engineered to maximize flow rates while simultaneously minimizing operational noise levels.
  • Complete Collection Assembly: It comes complete with an integral collection wand and a protective yellow sponge guard to ensure highly efficient capture of surgical plume right at the source.
  • Broad Compatibility: This 6-foot tubing has a 1 1/3-inch diameter connection, making it universally compatible with any smoke evacuator system utilizing a 1 1/3-inch port.

This product is supplied non-sterile and is recommended for single use. It is packaged with 5 units per box.

How many pieces of vacuum tubing are included in one box?

Each box contains 5 units of the Surgimedics Non-Sterile Vacuum Tubing.

Is the yellow sponge guard included?

Yes, each 6-foot tubing assembly comes complete with an integral wand and a highly visible yellow sponge guard attached. This assembly is designed to maximize the capture of surgical smoke plume directly at the source, ensuring optimal efficiency during procedures. You receive 5 complete, single-use units in every box.

Is this tubing sterile?

No, this tubing is non-sterile.

Is this vacuum tubing single-use?

Yes, the tubing is designed for single use to maintain optimal hygiene and performance in medical environments.

Is this tubing ideal for surgical smoke evacuation?

This vacuum tubing is essential for efficient surgical smoke evacuation, designed specifically to capture airborne contaminants and odors (surgical smoke plume).

It is particularly beneficial for procedures that generate high volumes of smoke, such as laser or electrosurgical procedures.

For maximum effectiveness, the assembly must be utilized correctly:

  • The tubing features a smooth bore inner surface engineered to maximize flow rates and minimize operational noise.
  • The integral wand and yellow sponge guard must be positioned as close as possible to the surgical site.
  • Capturing the smoke near the source is critical for preventing the plume from escaping into the operating room.
Does this tubing minimize operational noise?

Yes, this Surgimedics vacuum tubing is specifically engineered for efficient and quiet performance.

It features a smooth bore inner surface designed to maximize capture flow rates while simultaneously minimizing the audible noise levels generated during suction. This design helps maintain a quieter environment during surgical procedures.

Does the tubing include the integral wand?

Yes, this product is designed as a complete collection assembly for smoke evacuation.

Each 6-foot length of tubing includes:

  • An integral collection wand.
  • A distinctive yellow sponge guard.

This system ensures efficient capture of surgical smoke plume near the procedure site. The product is packaged with five (5) complete units per box.

Does the smooth bore surface enhance performance?

Yes, the smooth bore inner surface is a critical design feature engineered to maximize the performance of the vacuum tubing during surgical smoke evacuation.

It provides two main advantages:

  • Optimizes Flow Rates: The smooth interior minimizes internal air resistance, which in turn maximizes capture flow rates. This ensures highly effective and rapid evacuation of surgical smoke plume and contaminants.
  • Minimizes Noise Levels: By reducing friction and optimizing air movement through the tubing, the smooth bore design also helps to minimize the audible operational noise generated by the suction system, promoting a quieter surgical environment.
