Frequently asked questions

Does this holder offer superior needle control?

Yes, this instrument features tungsten carbide inserts paired with cross-serrated jaws. This combination is specifically engineered to provide enhanced grip and precision, ensuring that larger, heavier suture needles are held securely during demanding procedures.

Is this instrument safe for use with latex allergies?

Absolutely. This needle holder is certified latex-free and is not manufactured with any natural rubber latex, making it a safe choice for surgical environments where latex sensitivity is a concern.

How durable is the construction for repeated use?

Designed as a reusable surgical instrument, it is constructed from high-quality stainless steel. By utilizing tungsten carbide inserts, the instrument maintains its performance and edge integrity over multiple sterilization and usage cycles.

Can this be used for both human and animal procedures?

Yes, the versatile design makes this instrument suitable for a wide range of applications, including general surgery, oral surgery, gynecology, and dermatology for both human and veterinary medical procedures.

Are the locking rings easy to handle during surgery?

The instrument is designed for ergonomic and secure handling. It features a ratcheted locking mechanism operated by dual gold-toned finger rings, allowing the surgeon to lock the needle firmly in place with ease and confidence.

What is the benefit of the Surgi-OR mid-grade quality?

The Surgi-OR grade offers a reliable, professional-standard balance. It provides the essential durability and precision required for daily operating room and surgery center use, ensuring professional performance at a practical value.

Is this tool effective for deep tissue suturing?

Yes, its 6-inch length and straight, cross-serrated jaw design are ideal for deep tissue suturing. The robust grip provided by the tungsten carbide ensures that needles remain stable even when passing through dense tissue.

Does it arrive ready for immediate surgical use?

This product is supplied non-sterile. While it is factory new, it must undergo standard hospital or clinic sterilization protocols before it can be used in a surgical procedure.

Are there specific maintenance requirements for the tungsten carbide?

While it is a durable, reusable stainless steel instrument, it is recommended to follow standard surgical instrument cleaning and sterilization guidelines. Avoiding harsh chemicals or abrasive scrubbing will help preserve the precision of the cross-serrated jaws.

Is the design optimized for larger suture needles?

The wide jaw design and tungsten carbide reinforcement are specifically engineered to accommodate larger, heavier suture needles. This prevents the needle from slipping or rotating, which can often be a challenge with standard, non-reinforced holders.
