Description

Surgi-OR Spencer Stitch Scissors are primarily used for suture removal. These scissors have a small hook shaped tip on one blade that slides under sutures to slightly lift them before cutting for removal. This hook also holds the suture so it does not slip off the blade of the scissors prior to cutting. They are most commonly available in lengths of 3-1/2" and 4-1/2" and therefore typically have smaller, more delicate tips that are used for removing smaller sutures. They should not be used for cutting tissue. Hand-crafted in Pakistan, Surgi-OR mid-grade instruments are forged from the highest quality Japanese steel and provide reliable instrumentation for the operating room and other surgical centers. Surgi-OR instruments are a cost-effective line of instruments that must meet Sklar's quality standards. This product is straight with smooth, blunt/blunt tips and a length of 4-1/2 inches.

Can these scissors be reused after sterilization?

Absolutely. These are reusable stainless steel instruments designed to withstand repeated cleaning and sterilization cycles in professional medical environments.

How does the integrated hook improve suture removal?

The small hook tip on one blade is a specialized feature that allows you to:

  • Easily slide beneath the suture.
  • Gently elevate the thread away from the skin.
  • Secure the suture in place to prevent it from slipping while you make a precise cut.
Are these safe to use with latex-sensitive patients?

Yes, the product is completely latex-free. They are manufactured without the use of any natural rubber latex, ensuring safety for patients with sensitivities.

Are these scissors suitable for cutting delicate tissue?

No, these scissors are not intended for cutting tissue. They are precision-engineered exclusively for the task of suture removal.

Why is the 4-1/2 inch size preferred for sutures?

The 4-1/2 inch length is specifically chosen for smaller, delicate procedures. Its compact size allows for greater control and precision when managing fine sutures.

Do these arrive ready for immediate surgical use?

These instruments are supplied non-sterile. They require standard cleaning and a proper sterilization process according to your facility’s protocols before being used in a procedure.

Is the construction durable enough for daily hospital use?

Yes, being part of the Surgi-OR mid-grade line, they are constructed to be durable, reliable, and capable of holding up to the demands of daily use in surgical centers and operating rooms.

What is the primary benefit of the blunt/blunt tip configuration?

The blunt/blunt (B/B) tip design is chosen for increased safety. It minimizes the risk of accidental puncture or trauma to the surrounding skin while the hook is being positioned under the suture thread.

Does this product offer long-term reliability?

Yes, these scissors are backed by a lifetime warranty, reflecting the manufacturer’s confidence in the craftsmanship and the high-quality stainless steel construction.
