Description

Surgi-OR Rochester-Oschner Forceps are a heavy instrument designed to aggressively grasp medium to heavy tissue or occlude heavy, dense vessels. They have horizontal serrations the entire length of the jaw as well as 1 X 2 teeth at the tip. The combination of full serrations plus teeth ensure a firm grip on the tissue or vessel being held. Rochester-Oschner Forceps are available either curved or straight and in multiple lengths. These forceps are sometimes referred to as simply Oschner Forceps, however, Rochester-Oschner Forceps are actually heavier than standard Oschner Forceps. Hand-crafted in Pakistan, Surgi-OR mid-grade instruments are forged from the highest quality Japanese steel and provide reliable instrumentation for the operating room and other surgical centers. Surgi-OR instruments are a cost-effective line of instruments that must meet Sklar's quality standards. This product is straight with full, horizontally serrated jaws, 1 X 2 teeth, and a length of 6-1/4 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Does this tool provide superior grip for dense tissue?

Yes, this instrument is designed specifically for aggressive grasping of medium to heavy tissue. It features a unique dual-action gripping surface that combines:

  • 1x2 teeth at the tip for precise engagement.
  • Full horizontal serrations along the entire length of the jaw to ensure a secure, tenacious hold.
Is this forceps suitable for heavy vessel occlusion?

Absolutely. The Rochester-Ochsner design is engineered to be heavier than standard forceps, making it ideal for the occlusion of dense or thick vessels where a stronger, more reliable grasp is required.

Is the construction durable enough for frequent hospital use?

Yes, this is a factory-new, reusable instrument. It is forged from high-quality Japanese stainless steel, ensuring it meets Sklar’s stringent quality benchmarks for performance and reliability in demanding operating room environments.

Does the ratchet mechanism provide secure locking?

Yes, the instrument includes an integrated locking ratchet mechanism located near the pivot point. This allows the surgeon to maintain consistent, controlled pressure on the grasped tissue without needing to maintain manual force.

Is this instrument free from natural rubber latex?

Yes, this product is 100% latex-free. It is constructed entirely of stainless steel, making it a safe choice for patients or medical staff with latex sensitivities.

How should this instrument be prepared for surgical use?

This instrument is delivered non-sterile. It must undergo proper cleaning and sterilization procedures according to your facility’s standard surgical protocols before it is ready for medical use.

Is this part of a high-quality product line?

Yes, it belongs to the Surgi-OR line, which is designed to be a cost-effective solution that does not compromise on quality, strictly adhering to Sklar’s manufacturing and performance standards.

What is the primary material used for this tool?

The forceps are crafted from high-quality Japanese stainless steel. This material selection is chosen for its durability, resistance to wear during repeated sterilization cycles, and overall strength.

Is the design ergonomic for comfortable handling?

The instrument is designed with standard finger rings, which provide the user with firm, tactile control and ergonomic manipulation during surgical procedures.

How does this compare to standard Ochsner Forceps?

The Surgi-OR Rochester-Ochsner Forceps are engineered to be heavier and more robust than standard Ochsner models, offering increased gripping strength for more demanding surgical tasks involving particularly dense tissue bundles.
