Description

The SleepSense Multi-Rip SUM Module (# 9201-Kit) Kit includes the SUM Module (# 9201), SUM-Abdomen Cable (# PS9202), SUM-Chest Cable (#P S9203), and SUM-Output Cable (# PS9204).

Warranty: 1 Year - Free of Defects in Materials and Quality Workmanship.

The Multi-RIP SUM Module connects to any SleepSense inductive belt, and uses AAA batteries (included). It detects both chest and abdomen effort signals simultaneously and has the capability to provide a summation of the two channels.

The inductance of the inductive bands is proportional to the cross section area of the band's closed loop around the body, and therefore changes as the patient breathes. The electronics in the multi-rip interface box measure thoracic and abdominal effort signals and their sum (sum model) to provide accurate and reliable respiratory effort signals used to assist the technician in identifying desynchronized chest and abdominal breathing.

NOTE: SleepSense items are for professional use only, and are for sale by or on the order of a physician only.

Frequently asked questions

How does the SUM Module measure respiratory effort?

The SleepSense Multi-Rip SUM Module is designed for professional use to provide highly accurate and reliable respiratory effort data.

Its key functions are:

  • Simultaneous Dual Channel Measurement: It measures both thoracic (chest) effort and abdominal effort signals concurrently, interfacing with compatible SleepSense inductive belts.
  • Summation Capability: It precisely computes the algebraic sum of the chest and abdominal signals, creating a reliable summation channel.
  • Desynchronization Analysis: This summation channel is critical for helping technicians identify asynchronous or desynchronized breathing patterns during professional sleep studies (PSG).
What essential components are included in this kit?

The SleepSense Multi-Rip SUM Module Kit (MPN: 9201-Kit) is comprehensive and includes all necessary components required to interface with SleepSense inductive belts:

  • SUM Module (# 9201): The core processing unit.
  • SUM-Abdomen Cable (# PS9202)
  • SUM-Chest Cable (# PS9203)
  • SUM-Output Cable (# PS9204)
  • AAA batteries (included to power the unit)
What type of batteries does the SUM Module use?

The SUM Module is powered by AAA batteries, which are included in the kit.

What are the recommended filter settings for optimal performance?

The SleepSense Multi-Rip SUM Module has specific recommended filter settings for compatible monitoring equipment:

  • High Pass Filter: 0.1 Hz
  • Low Pass Filter: 40 Hz, or as recommended in your specific system’s instructions.
What are the operating temperature limits for the SleepSense Multi-Rip SUM Module?

The operating temperature range is 40 to 104 °F.

What is the storage temperature range for the SleepSense Multi-Rip SUM Module?

The storage temperature range is -4 to 140 °F.

What are the humidity limits for operating and storing the SleepSense Multi-Rip SUM Module?

The operating and storage humidity range is 5 to 95% (non-condensing).

Are the SleepSense Multi-Rip SUM Module items available for general purchase?

No, SleepSense items are for professional use only and are for sale by or on the order of a physician only.

Can it detect both chest and abdomen signals simultaneously?

Yes, the module is designed to provide simultaneous detection of both chest and abdomen effort signals. This feature is crucial for comprehensive respiratory analysis and helps identify desynchronized breathing patterns.

Does it help identify breathing desynchronization?

Yes, the module’s summation capability is specifically designed to aid technicians in identifying breathing desynchronization between the chest and abdomen. It processes differential signals and calculates their sum, which is critical for accurate assessment.
