Description

The SleepSense DC Body Position Sensor with safety DIN connectors is compatible with the CareFusion SensorMedics Verisys and SomnoStar z4, as well as the Natus Xltek and Stellate PSG systems. It is designed with a small size and contour for improved patient tolerance.

Warranty: 1 Year - Free of Defects in Materials and Quality Workmanship.

Using a gravity switch, SleepSense Body Position Sensors provide a signal that is directly proportional to the patient's sleep posture (supine, prone, left, right, or sitting). The sensor may be connected to suitable high level channels on the recorder.

SleepSense sleep-lab sensors are intended for use on children and adult patients who are screened during sleep disorder studies at a sleep laboratory or the patient's home.

Note: SleepSense items are for professional use only, and are for sale by or on the order of a physician only.

Frequently asked questions

Is the sensor compatible with major PSG systems?

Yes, the SleepSense DC Body Position Sensor is specifically designed for broad compatibility with established Polysomnography (PSG) systems, connecting via Safety DIN connectors.

It is fully compatible with the following major systems:

  • CareFusion (including SensorMedics Verisys)
  • SomnoStar (including SomnoStar z4)
  • Natus Xltek
  • Stellate

The sensor uses an internal gravity switch to accurately detect five distinct patient postures (supine, prone, left, right, or sitting) and transmits this information using a Type A signal consisting of 5 DC levels.

Is the SleepSense DC Body Position Sensor suitable for both children and adults?

Yes, the SleepSense DC Body Position Sensor is specifically intended for use in sleep disorder studies involving both children and adult patients.

This device is designed for professional use and can be utilized in either a sleep laboratory or a home setting.

Does the sensor use a high-precision gravity switch?

Yes, the SleepSense DC Body Position Sensor employs a gravity switch to accurately monitor and report the patient’s sleeping posture during professional sleep studies. This mechanism generates a precise signal that directly reflects the position.

Posture and Signal Output

The sensor outputs a Type A signal consisting of 5 distinct DC levels that accurately correspond to the following patient positions:

  • Supine
  • Prone
  • Left side
  • Right side
  • Sitting

This device is designed for use on children and adults and connects to various Polysomnography (PSG) systems, including CareFusion SensorMedics Verisys, SomnoStar z4, Natus Xltek, and Stellate systems, using Safety DIN connectors.

Does the sensor use a specialized, non-replaceable battery?

Yes, the SleepSense DC Body Position Sensor is powered by an internal, non-replaceable battery.

This self-contained power source ensures the device is highly portable and ready for continuous, reliable monitoring during professional sleep disorder studies, both in laboratory and in-home settings.

Is this ideal for professional PSG setups?

Yes, the SleepSense DC Body Position Sensor is designed exclusively for professional polysomnography (PSG) setups in sleep laboratories or home environments. It is intended for use by qualified medical professionals on both children and adult patients.

Key professional features include:

  • High Compatibility: Equipped with safety DIN connectors, ensuring full integration with major PSG systems such as CareFusion SensorMedics Verisys, Natus Xltek, SomnoStar z4, and Stellate.
  • Detailed Monitoring: Utilizes a gravity switch to accurately monitor and report the patient’s exact posture, generating a Type A signal with 5 distinct DC levels.
  • Postures Tracked: Supine, Prone, Left, Right, and Sitting.
  • Patient Comfort: Features a small size and contour shape to improve patient tolerance during long-term monitoring.
Does the sensor offer enhanced patient comfort?

Yes, the SleepSense DC Body Position Sensor is specifically engineered to maximize patient comfort and tolerance during long sleep studies, suitable for both children and adults.Key design features include:* Small Size: Minimizes bulk and intrusion while the patient is sleeping.* Contour Shape: The housing is designed to fit ergonomically against the body, ensuring consistent monitoring with improved tolerance.

Does the sensor provide 5 DC level output?

Yes, the SleepSense DC Body Position Sensor provides a Type A signal output consisting of 5 distinct DC levels.

This signal is generated by an internal gravity switch, which accurately correlates the DC level to the patient’s precise sleeping posture. This capability is crucial for comprehensive sleep disorder studies, reporting on the following five positions:

  • Supine
  • Prone
  • Left
  • Right
  • Sitting
What is the safe operating humidity?

The SleepSense DC Body Position Sensor is designed for reliable use in both clinical and home environments. The specified humidity range for both operation and storage is 5 to 95% (non-condensing).

What does the complete Sensor Kit include?

The complete Kit Configuration is optimized for comfortable and secure attachment during sleep disorder studies on both adult and pediatric patients. It ensures the sensor remains properly positioned for reliable data collection.

The kit includes two main components:

  • SleepSense DC Body Position Sensor (MPN #1564V2): This core device utilizes an integrated gravity switch mechanism to accurately detect and output a signal corresponding to five distinct patient postures (supine, prone, left, right, or sitting) as Type A - 5 DC Levels.
  • Large Body Position Buckle Band (#1550): This dedicated textile strap is included for comfortably and securely affixing the small, contoured sensor to the patient’s body.
Can this sensor be used for home studies?

Yes, the SleepSense DC Body Position Sensor is specifically engineered for professional monitoring in both clinical sleep laboratories and patient homes.

Key details regarding its usage include:

  • Intended Setting: Suitable for use in professional laboratory or home environments.
  • Patient Population: Designed for sleep disorder studies on both adults and children.
