Description

The SleepSense Adult Nasal ThermoCan Cannula has a unique built-in thermistor that makes it easier and more cost effective to monitor thermal and pressure flow at the same time. Reusable ThermoCan Interface Cables easily insert into the sides of the ThermoCan Cannula at the nares, transmitting the thermal airflow signal to the PSG system and replacing the need for expensive thermocouples/thermistors.

The 2 foot (60 cm) cannula is perfect for HST devices or systems utilizing a patient unit, requiring a shorter thermal + pressure combination solution. It can be used with the PDX ThermoCan Interface Cable (#1479) or ThermoCan Interface Cable with Key Connector (#1482).

This product is designed for diagnostic purposes only, and is not to be used as an apnea monitor or in a life sustaining situation.

Note: US Federal Law restricts this device to sale, distribution, and use by or on the order of a physician.

Frequently asked questions

Does the cannula use a standard male luer connector?

Yes, the SleepSense Adult Nasal ThermoCan Cannula uses a male luer connector. This standardized connection is crucial for facilitating the easy interface with reusable ThermoCan Interface Cables (such as models #1479 or #1482), which then transmit the data to your diagnostic PSG system.

Is the ThermoCan cannula AASM compliant?

Yes, the SleepSense Adult Nasal ThermoCan Cannula is designed to be fully compliant with the standards set by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).

This compliance confirms it is suitable for acquiring thermal airflow and pressure monitoring data during professional diagnostic sleep studies.

Is a prescription required to purchase this cannula?

Yes, this device is subject to regulatory restrictions.

Under US Federal Law, the SleepSense Adult Nasal ThermoCan Cannula is restricted to sale, distribution, and use only by or on the order of a physician.

It is also important to note that this device is intended strictly for diagnostic purposes only, and not for use as an apnea monitor or in life-sustaining situations.

Can the SleepSense Adult Nasal ThermoCan Cannula be used as an apnea monitor or in life-sustaining situations?

No, the SleepSense Adult Nasal ThermoCan Cannula is for diagnostic purposes only and should not be used as an apnea monitor or in life-sustaining situations.

Is this cannula infection control friendly?

Yes, the SleepSense Adult Nasal ThermoCan Cannula is explicitly designed for single-patient, one-time use.

This disposable design is crucial for infection control as it eliminates the need for cleaning or sterilization, ensuring maximum hygiene and minimizing cross-contamination risks.

Does this cannula monitor both thermal and pressure flow?

Yes, the SleepSense Adult Nasal ThermoCan Cannula is specifically engineered for the simultaneous monitoring of both thermal and pressure flow during diagnostic sleep studies.

Key features that enable this dual functionality include:

  • Integrated Thermistor: It contains a unique built-in thermistor that consolidates the functions of traditional sensors, simplifying setup and improving cost-effectiveness.
  • AASM Compliant: The device meets the rigorous diagnostic standards set by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).
  • Disposable Design: It is designed for one-time use only, ensuring optimal infection control and eliminating the need for cleaning or maintenance.
Is the SleepSense Adult Nasal ThermoCan Cannula reusable?

No, the SleepSense Adult Nasal ThermoCan Cannula is designed for one-time use only. It is a disposable device to promote infection control and eliminate the need for cleaning or sterilization.

What benefits does the built-in thermistor provide?

The integrated built-in thermistor is the core technology of the ThermoCan Cannula, designed to streamline respiratory monitoring in sleep studies. By integrating this component, the cannula offers several key advantages:

  • Integrated Dual Monitoring: It allows for the simultaneous measurement of both the thermal airflow signal and the pressure flow signal using a single disposable device.
  • Cost Efficiency: This design replaces the need for separate, often expensive, external thermocouples or thermistors, contributing to a significantly lower cost per use.
  • Infection Control: Since the monitoring capability is built into the disposable cannula, it ensures optimal infection control and eliminates concerns over cleaning or breakage associated with reusable components.
  • AASM Compliance: The device meets the regulatory AASM standards required for accurate diagnostic respiratory monitoring.
Is the ThermoCan compatible with major sleep systems?

Yes, this SleepSense cannula is designed for broad compatibility with Polysomnography (PSG) and Home Sleep Testing (HST) devices, and it meets the AASM compliance standards for respiratory monitoring.
