Description

Sklarlite XD Stevens Tenotomy Scissors are used for delicate dissection and cutting, commonly in ophthalmologic, neurological, and plastic surgery procedures. Tenotomy scissors have long handles and small, sharp blades with variable tip styles. The long handles allow the surgeon to have an adequate grip and control while dissecting or cutting in small or narrow areas. Stevens tenotomy scissors are available straight or curved and with sharp or blunt tips, in order to accommodate different procedures. Sharp tips allow precise dissection and cutting of delicate tissue, while blunt tipped blades are used more often for dissecting and cutting mucus membranes. Sklarlite XD instruments are noticeably lighter and delicate than standard instruments which allow the surgeon the highest degree of precision with the least amount of fatigue. These instruments have been uniquely manufactured to be one of the lightest, most delicate general instruments available today. This product is curved with smooth, blunt/blunt tips, and a length of 4-1/2 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Are these scissors truly designed to reduce surgeon fatigue?

Yes, absolutely. The Sklarlite XD construction is specifically engineered to be one of the lightest and most delicate general instruments available. By significantly reducing the weight compared to standard instruments, these scissors help minimize hand and wrist fatigue during prolonged or repetitive surgical procedures.

Is high-quality stainless steel used in their manufacturing?

Yes. These scissors are crafted from premium-grade stainless steel that meets Sklar Premium Grade standards. This ensures they are not only durable enough for repeated surgical use but also resistant to corrosion, maintaining their integrity over time.

Are these suitable for dissecting very delicate tissues?

Yes, they are ideal for that purpose. The blunt/blunt (B/B) tip configuration and the extra delicate design make them perfectly suited for dissecting and cutting fragile structures, such as mucous membranes, with precision and minimal trauma.

Do these provide good control in narrow surgical areas?

They are designed specifically for excellent control. The combination of an elongated 4-1/5 inch body, a curved profile, and ergonomic finger rings ensures you maintain a secure, steady grip even when navigating confined or narrow operative fields.

Are these instruments safe for patients with latex allergies?

Yes. These scissors are not made with natural rubber latex, making them a safe choice for surgical environments involving patients or staff with latex sensitivities.

Is this instrument intended for repeated surgical use?

Yes. These are professional-grade, reusable surgical instruments. They are designed to withstand repeated cleaning and sterilization cycles typical of a clinical setting, provided they are maintained correctly according to standard surgical instrument protocols.

How precise is the cutting action on these scissors?

The precision is a key selling point. Thanks to the Sklarlite XD engineering, the blades are exceptionally delicate, allowing for extremely fine and controlled cuts. This makes them highly effective for the intricate demands of ophthalmologic, neurological, and plastic surgery.

Are these scissors considered TAA compliant?

Yes, these instruments are TAA (Trade Agreements Act) compliant, ensuring they meet the necessary standards for government and institutional procurement.
