Frequently asked questions

Does the lightweight design truly minimize hand fatigue?

Yes. The Sklarlite XD construction is specifically engineered to be one of the lightest instruments in its class. By reducing the overall weight compared to standard stainless steel forceps, it helps maintain surgeon comfort and precision during long, delicate procedures.

How reliable is the grasp for slippery tissues?

The forceps are optimized for secure handling. They feature:

  • 4x5 tooth configuration: Designed to lock onto dense or slippery tissue effectively.
  • Ratcheted mechanism: Provides a secure, locked grip, ensuring the tissue remains held without continuous manual pressure from the surgeon.
Is the stainless steel material durable for repeated sterilization?

These forceps are crafted from high-quality, premium-grade stainless steel, making them fully reusable. They are built to withstand the rigors of standard surgical cleaning and sterilization protocols.

Can these be used safely in electrosurgical procedures?

Absolutely. These forceps are specifically indicated for use in procedures where electrosurgery is performed, thanks to their precise design and ability to securely grasp tissues commonly involved in such operations.

Are these forceps free of natural rubber latex?

Yes, this product is 100% latex-free. They are manufactured without the use of natural rubber latex, making them suitable for use in environments with latex-sensitive patients or staff.

Are these forceps suitable for specialized medical procedures?

Yes, they are highly versatile for precision work. They are frequently used in:

  • Tonsil procedures
  • Vaginal surgery
  • Breast surgery
  • Thyroid procedures
Is the instrument design TAA compliant?

Yes, the Sklarlite XD Allis Tissue Forceps are TAA compliant, meeting the requirements for procurement in governmental and high-standard clinical settings.

How does the 'extra delicate' classification benefit the surgeon?

The ‘extra delicate’ classification refers to the fine-tuned geometry of the instrument. It allows for:

  • Increased dexterity in tight surgical fields.
  • Higher precision when manipulating sensitive or dense tissues.
  • Reduced muscle strain compared to bulkier, standard forceps.
Are these forceps ready for immediate surgical use upon arrival?

These instruments are supplied in a non-sterile state. They must be subjected to your facility’s standard sterilization and cleaning procedures before they are used in any surgical application.

Does the handle design provide a secure grip?

Yes, the instrument utilizes a traditional finger-ring handle style. This design, paired with the integrated ratchet, provides the surgeon with a stable, ergonomic, and controlled grip for reliable tissue manipulation.
