Description

Sklarlite Operating Scissors, also known as Surgical Scissors, are a versatile surgical instrument. With three available tip configurations (sharp/sharp, blunt/blunt, or sharp/blunt), varying curvatures and multiple lengths, these scissors are used for general, multipurpose cutting and dissecting. Sharp Operating Scissors cut tougher tissue and are frequently used for dissecting, whereas blunt Operating Scissors are more often used for cutting materials such as sutures, tubing, or gauze. Sklarlite instruments are a lighter version of standard Sklar instruments. A unique manufacturing process developed by Sklar shaves microns off standard and delicate pattern instruments while maintaining structural integrity and durability. This lightweight modification provides the surgeon with greater control and less fatigue. This product is curved with smooth, sharp/sharp tips, and a length of 4-1/2 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Does the extra-lightweight design sacrifice any durability?

No, the Sklarlite process is specifically engineered to reduce weight by shaving microns off the instrument’s profile while maintaining full structural integrity. You receive the benefit of reduced fatigue without compromising the durability of the stainless steel.

Is this model suitable for working with tougher tissue?

Yes. This specific version features a sharp/sharp (S/S) tip configuration, which is intentionally designed to provide the precision needed for cutting through tougher tissues during dissection procedures.

How does the curved-on-flat design help in surgery?

The curved-on-flat configuration allows for a superior angle of approach. This geometry makes it significantly easier to maneuver and perform effective cutting around anatomical contours compared to straight blades.

Are these scissors safe for patients with latex allergies?

Absolutely. These Sklarlite Operating Scissors are not made with natural rubber latex, ensuring they are safe for use on patients with latex sensitivities.

Are these scissors considered professional-grade instruments?

Yes, these carry a Sklar Premium grade rating. This designation signifies that the instrument meets the high-quality manufacturing standards expected of professional surgical equipment.

Do these scissors arrive ready for immediate use?

These instruments are supplied non-sterile. As with all professional reusable surgical instrumentation, they must be cleaned and sterilized according to your facility’s protocols before being used in a procedure.

Can I use these for multipurpose cutting tasks?

Definitely. While they are specialized for surgical settings, their versatile design makes them excellent for general-purpose cutting and dissection where high levels of control and precision are required.

Is the stainless steel used of high quality?

Yes, they are manufactured from high-grade stainless steel, chosen for its balance of strength, resistance to corrosion, and ability to hold a smooth, sharp cutting edge over repeated use.

Will these help reduce hand fatigue during long procedures?

Yes, the primary advantage of the Sklarlite series is its ultra-lightweight construction. By minimizing the weight of the tool, the surgeon experiences less hand and wrist fatigue, even during extended or repetitive dissecting tasks.

Does the instrument meet TAA compliance standards?

Yes, this product is TAA compliant, meeting the rigorous standards required for government-related procurement and professional medical supply chains.
