Description

Sklarlite Kelly Hemostatic Forceps are primarily used for clamping large blood vessels or manipulating heavy tissue. They may also be used for soft tissue dissection. They are available curved or straight with a ratcheted finger ring handle. The jaws of Kelly Forceps are 1/3 the length of the shanks and serrations are 1/2 the length of the jaws. Sklarlite instruments are a lighter version of standard Sklar instruments. This lightweight modification provides the surgeon with greater control and less fatigue. This product is straight with serrated tips and a length of 5-1/2 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Does the reduced weight affect instrument performance?

Absolutely not. While the Sklarlite™ modification significantly reduces the instrument’s weight to minimize surgeon fatigue, it is engineered to maintain high performance. The design prioritizes enhanced control and precision without compromising the structural integrity required for demanding surgical tasks.

Is this instrument suitable for delicate tissue manipulation?

These forceps are specifically designed for clamping large blood vessels and manipulating heavy tissue. The serrated jaws, which cover half the length of the jaw, are optimized to provide a secure, reliable grip for these specific, more robust applications rather than for delicate, fine tissue work.

How do I ensure the CensiTrac marking is utilized?

The CensiTrac marking indicates that the instrument is ready for tracking within asset management or sterilization systems that utilize CensiTrac technology. You should ensure your facility’s tracking software is configured to recognize these markings for efficient instrument lifecycle and sterilization management.

Are these forceps compatible with standard sterilization protocols?

Yes. As a premium-grade, reusable surgical instrument, these forceps are designed to withstand standard hospital sterilization procedures. Please note the product arrives non-sterile, so it must undergo appropriate sterilization by the end-user before its first clinical use.

Does the construction hold up to frequent, rigorous use?

Yes, durability is a core feature. These forceps are crafted from high-quality stainless steel, ensuring they are robust enough for repeated, long-term use in surgical environments. This quality is backed by a Lifetime warranty.

Can these be used for soft tissue dissection?

While primarily intended for clamping large blood vessels and manipulating heavy tissue, these forceps are versatile enough to be employed for soft tissue dissection procedures as well, thanks to their secure ratchet mechanism and precision-engineered serrated tips.

Is the ratchet mechanism secure during heavy clamping?

Yes, the integrated ratchet mechanism is designed for a secure, locking clamping action. It allows the surgeon to maintain a consistent hold on heavy tissue or vessels without needing to manually apply continuous pressure.

Are these made with materials safe for latex-sensitive environments?

Yes, the Sklarlite Kelly Hemostatic Forceps are completely latex-free. They are not made with natural rubber latex, making them a safe choice for surgical environments with latex sensitivity protocols.

What is the benefit of the 'Extra Light' design?

The ‘Extra Light’ design is a specialized Sklarlite™ modification aimed directly at surgeon ergonomics. By reducing the overall mass of the instrument compared to standard models, it helps mitigate operational fatigue during long or complex procedures, allowing for steadier, more precise movements.

Is this a government-procurement-friendly option?

Yes, this product is TAA (Trade Agreements Act) compliant. This designation ensures it meets the necessary standards for purchase through various government and federal healthcare procurement channels.
