Frequently asked questions

Does the lightweight design really help reduce hand fatigue?

Yes, the Sklarlite modification is specifically engineered to reduce weight compared to standard surgical instruments. This lightweight construction allows for greater surgeon control and helps minimize muscle fatigue, which is particularly beneficial during lengthy or high-precision procedures.

Is this instrument constructed from high-quality stainless steel?

Absolutely. These forceps are manufactured to Sklar Premium Grade standards. Utilizing high-quality stainless steel ensures the instrument is both durable and reliable, making it an excellent investment for repeatable, long-term surgical use.

How reliable is the grip when clamping tissue?

The working edge is designed for maximum security. It features serrated tips that cover 1/2 the length of the jaw, ensuring a firm, non-slip grip when clamping large blood vessels or manipulating heavy tissue.

Does the ratchet mechanism provide a secure lock?

Yes, the forceps feature a ratcheted finger ring handle designed for positive locking. This mechanism ensures that the instrument maintains a sustained clamping force, allowing you to lock it in place securely during your procedure.

Are these forceps safe for patients with latex allergies?

Yes, they are completely safe. The Sklarlite Kelly Hemostatic Forceps are not made with natural rubber latex, making them a suitable, latex-free option for all surgical environments.

What is the primary advantage of the CensiTrac marking?

The CensiTrac mark is included to streamline asset management within healthcare facilities. It enables more efficient tracking of instruments through sterilization, inventory, and usage cycles, helping to maintain high standards of operational organization.

Can these instruments be sterilized for repeated use?

Yes, these are designed as professional, reusable surgical instruments. They are supplied non-sterile, meaning they are fully intended to undergo standard clinical sterilization protocols before each use.

Why is the curved-on-flat design helpful during surgery?

The curved configuration is engineered to improve visibility and access. This curvature allows for better maneuverability around anatomical structures, making it easier to perform precise clamping or soft tissue dissection compared to straight-jaw alternatives.

Is the 5-1/2 inch length versatile for different surgical tasks?

The 5-1/2 inch size is a standard, highly versatile length for surgical forceps. It provides an ideal balance between reach and dexterity, making it well-suited for a wide range of tasks, from clamping blood vessels to general tissue manipulation.

Does this instrument meet TAA compliance standards?

Yes, this product is TAA compliant. It meets the requirements set by the Trade Agreements Act, making it suitable for procurement in government and institutional medical facilities.
