Frequently asked questions

Does the lightweight design really help reduce fatigue?

Yes. The Sklarlite line utilizes a specialized manufacturing process that carefully shaves microns off the instrument’s profile. This results in a significantly lighter tool compared to standard surgical scissors, which helps reduce hand fatigue and enhances control during lengthy or repetitive procedures.

Are these scissors precise enough for delicate tissue dissection?

Absolutely. These scissors are designed with sharp/sharp (S/S) tips, which are specifically engineered for:

  • Meticulous dissection of delicate tissues.
  • Precision removal of fine sutures.
  • Detailed work where accuracy is the highest priority.
Is the stainless steel construction durable for long-term use?

Yes, these are manufactured to Sklar Premium grade standards. Despite the lightweight modification, the structural integrity is rigorously maintained to ensure the scissors are durable and reliable for long-term clinical use.

Can this be used on patients with latex allergies?

Yes. This product is not made with natural rubber latex, making it a safe choice for use in clinical environments where latex sensitivity is a concern.

What surgical specialties are these scissors best suited for?

While originally designed for ophthalmic procedures, their precision makes them versatile tools used across several medical fields, including:

  • Emergency Medicine
  • OB/GYN
  • Dermatology
  • Any setting requiring fine tissue manipulation.
What is the benefit of the curved-on-flat design?

The curved-on-flat configuration is an ergonomic and functional choice. It provides surgeons with superior access and visibility when working in specific surgical planes, allowing for better maneuverability without compromising the integrity of the cut.

Are these instruments suitable for repeated sterilization cycles?

Yes, these are designed as reusable instruments. Constructed from high-quality stainless steel, they are intended to withstand standard sterilization protocols used in surgical facilities. Please note that they ship non-sterile, so they must be sterilized before their first use.

Do these meet professional manufacturing compliance standards?

Yes. This product is TAA compliant, meeting the rigorous standards required for government and clinical procurement. It reflects a commitment to manufacturing quality and professional reliability.

Is there a warranty included with these scissors?

Yes. The product is backed by a lifetime warranty. This reflects the manufacturer’s confidence in the long-term performance and high quality of the Sklarlite material and craftsmanship.

Are these scissors ready for immediate use upon arrival?

The scissors arrive in non-sterile condition. While they are factory new, you must follow your facility’s established sterilization procedures to prepare the instrument for surgical use before it contacts any patient.
