Description

Sklarlite™ Hartmann Mosquito forceps are a lighter version of standard mosquito forceps. This lightweight modification provides the surgeon with greater control and less fatigue. Mosquito forceps are used as both a hemostat and for fine tissue dissection in shallow wounds and procedures. Most commonly utilized in plastic and vascular surgeries, Hartmann Mosquito Forceps can also be used in pediatric and ophthalmologic procedures. Known for their fine tips, short, and fully serrated jaws, these Mosquito Forceps can be used as a clamping instrument to halt blood flow so that cauterization or ligation can be performed. They are also used for holding small, fine sutures. Hartmann Mosquito Forceps are shorter and heavier than Halstead Mosquito Forceps. This product is curved with serrated tips and a length of 3-1/2 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Does the extra-light design help reduce hand fatigue?

Yes, the Sklarlite™ construction is specifically engineered to be lighter than standard mosquito forceps. This reduced profile is designed to minimize surgeon fatigue during long or highly detailed surgical procedures.

Can these be used for fine tissue dissection?

Absolutely. These forceps are highly versatile and are designed for:

Fine tissue dissection in shallow wounds.

Precise clamping of small vessels prior to ligation or cauterization.

Handling delicate sutures with high precision.

Is the stainless steel material durable for repeated use?

Yes, this instrument is manufactured to Sklar Premium Grade standards using high-quality stainless steel. It is designed specifically for durability and intended for repeated clinical use.

Does the ratchet mechanism provide a secure lock?

Yes, the forceps are equipped with a reliable ratchet locking mechanism located near the finger rings. This allows for controlled, secure clamping of tissue or vessels, holding the instrument firmly in place until the surgeon chooses to release it.

Are these forceps safe for patients with latex allergies?

Yes, this product is not made with natural rubber latex, making it a safe choice for surgical environments where latex-free instruments are required.

Are these forceps suitable for pediatric procedures?

Yes, their fine tips and lightweight construction make them ideal for pediatric and ophthalmologic procedures, where precision and minimal instrument weight are significant factors for success.

Do the jaws provide a firm grip on sutures?

The jaws feature fully serrated surfaces and fine, tapered tips. This design is optimized to provide a secure, non-slip grip on small sutures and delicate tissue during procedures.

Are these instruments compliant with government standards?

Yes, these Sklarlite Hartmann Mosquito Forceps are TAA (Trade Agreements Act) compliant, ensuring they meet specific regulatory and procurement standards.

Do I need to sterilize them before the first use?

Yes, the product is supplied as non-sterile. You must follow your facility’s standard protocol for the cleaning and sterilization of reusable stainless steel surgical instruments before their first use.

What is the specific curvature of these forceps?

This model features a curved-on-flat configuration. This curvature, combined with the 3-3/4 inch length, allows for improved visibility and accessibility when working in confined or deep surgical sites.
