Description

Sklarlite Halsted Mosquito Forceps are used in multiple procedures as a hemostat for small blood vessels. The ratcheted finger ring handle provides a secure, locking grip to halt blood flow. They are not appropriate for use with large vessels or arteries. A toothed variation is available for grasping delicate tissue in skin grafting, biopsies, or ophthalmologic procedures. Mosquito forceps are known for their fine tips, and short, fully serrated jaws. They are available curved or straight. The standard length for this instrument is 5 inches, although Sklar does offer some with a length of 5-1/2 inches. Halsted Mosquito Forceps are very similar to Hartmann Mosquito Forceps, however, the Hartmann style is finer and more delicate. Sklarlite instruments are a lighter version of standard Sklar instruments. A unique manufacturing process developed by Sklar shaves microns off standard and delicate pattern instruments while maintaining structural integrity and durability. This lightweight modification provides the surgeon with greater control and less fatigue. This product is curved with serrated tips and a length of 5 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Does the lightweight design reduce surgeon fatigue?

Yes. The Sklarlite Extra Light construction shaves microns off standard instrument patterns. This innovative process reduces hand and wrist fatigue during prolonged procedures while maintaining the structural integrity required for precise surgical work.

Are these crafted from durable, high-quality stainless steel?

Yes. These forceps are manufactured from premium stainless steel, ensuring they are durable and reliable for consistent use in professional surgical settings.

Do the tips offer precision for delicate tasks?

Absolutely. The instrument features fine, pointed tips paired with fully serrated jaws. This combination is specifically engineered to provide a secure, non-slip grasp on delicate tissues and small blood vessels.

Does the ratchet mechanism provide a reliable lock?

Yes. The ratcheted finger ring handle is designed for a positive, locking grip. This mechanism ensures the jaws remain securely closed to effectively halt blood flow, allowing the surgeon to focus on the procedure without needing to maintain constant manual pressure.

Is this instrument guaranteed to be latex-free?

Yes. This product is not made with natural rubber latex, making it a safe option for patients and medical staff with latex sensitivities.

Does the CensiTrac marking improve instrument tracking?

Yes. The inclusion of CensiTrac marking is a significant advantage for facility management. It facilitates better asset tracking, improves inventory control, and streamlines integration with sterilization and instrument management systems.

Are these suitable for specialized, fine surgical procedures?

These forceps are excellent for tasks that require high precision and delicate tissue manipulation, including:

  • Ophthalmologic procedures
  • Detailed dissections
  • Skin grafting
  • Biopsies
Is this product fully compliant with TAA requirements?

Yes. This instrument is TAA compliant, making it a suitable and authorized choice for government and institutional procurement contracts.

Are these forceps designed for reliable, long-term reuse?

Yes. These are reusable, factory-new instruments. Although they are supplied non-sterile, they are built to withstand the necessary reprocessing cycles required in a professional surgical environment, and they are backed by a lifetime warranty.

How do these differ from finer Hartmann forceps?

While these share similarities with the Hartmann Mosquito style, the Halsted Mosquito is a distinct model. It is designed to offer a slightly different balance of weight and clamping force, providing a versatile option for managing small vessels where a standard mosquito profile is required.
