Description

Sklarlite Halsted Mosquito Forceps are a lighter version of standard Sklar mosquito forceps. This lightweight modification provides the surgeon with greater control and less fatigue. They are used in multiple procedures as a hemostat for small blood vessels. The ratcheted finger ring handle provides a secure, locking grip to halt blood flow. They are not appropriate for use with large vessels or arteries. A toothed variation is available for grasping delicate tissue in skin grafting, biopsies, or ophthalmologic procedures. Mosquito forceps are known for their fine tips, and short, fully serrated jaws. They are available curved or straight. The standard length for this instrument is 5 inches, although Sklar does offer some with a length of 5-1/2 inches. Halsted Mosquito Forceps are very similar to Hartmann Mosquito Forceps; however, the Hartmann style is finer and more delicate. This product is curved with serrated tips and a length of 5 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Does this tool help reduce surgeon fatigue?

Yes, this instrument features an extra light design specifically engineered to minimize hand fatigue during prolonged procedures. By reducing the overall instrument mass, it offers surgeons greater control and improved handling during delicate tasks.

Is high-quality stainless steel used in construction?

Absolutely. These forceps are manufactured from stainless steel that meets Sklar’s Premium grade standards, ensuring durability, reliability, and excellent performance in a surgical environment.

Will these forceps hold a secure grip?

Yes, they are equipped with a reliable ratcheted finger ring handle. This allows the user to lock the forceps in place once engaged, providing a stable, secure grip for effective hemostasis of small blood vessels.

Are these suitable for government or institutional procurement?

Yes, this product is TAA compliant (Trade Agreements Act), making it an appropriate and compliant choice for government-related medical procurement needs.

Are these forceps meant to be used multiple times?

Yes, these are reusable surgical instruments. They are built to withstand standard sterilization processes, allowing for repeated use in clinical settings.

Are these safe for patients with latex allergies?

Yes, these forceps are not made with natural rubber latex, making them a safe choice for patients with latex sensitivities.

What is the specific grip style of the jaws?

These forceps feature fully serrated jaws. This serrated working edge is designed to maximize friction and ensure a firm hold on tissue or vessels, preventing slippage during use.

Are these recommended for large arteries?

No, these are specialized tools intended for small blood vessels. They are not recommended for use on large vessels or major arteries due to their precise, delicate design.

Do I need to sterilize them before use?

Yes, this product is supplied non-sterile. Standard clinical protocols for surgical instrument handling, cleaning, and sterilization must be followed prior to any use.

How are these different from Hartmann forceps?

While similar in function, the Sklarlite Halsted model is distinct from the Hartmann style. The Hartmann forceps are generally finer and more delicate, whereas the Halsted model balances precision with a slightly more robust, extra-light design.
