Description

The Sklarlite Crile-Wood Needle Holder is used to hold and guide small to medium size needles and suture materials. The Crile-Wood Needle Holder has a gently tapered, blunt tip and is generally more delicate than the Mayo-Hegar but slightly less delicate than Webster, Halsey, or DeBakey needle holders. The ratcheted finger ring handle aids in securing needles for both continuous and interrupted closures. Sklarlite instruments are a lighter version of standard Sklar instruments. A unique manufacturing process developed by Sklar shaves microns off standard and delicate pattern instruments while maintaining structural integrity and durability. This lightweight modification provides the surgeon with greater control and less fatigue. This product is straight with cross-serrated tips, narrow jaws, and an overall length of 6 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Does the lightweight design affect the durability?

Absolutely not. While the Sklarlite manufacturing process strategically removes microns of material to reduce weight, it is engineered specifically to maintain structural integrity. You get the benefit of a lighter instrument without compromising the strength required for surgical procedures.

How does the grip quality compare to standard holders?

This needle holder features cross-serrated tips that incorporate a precision-engineered groove. This design ensures an exceptionally secure grasp on small to medium-sized needles, providing reliable stability during both continuous and interrupted closures.

Is this instrument suitable for reducing hand fatigue?

Yes, it is designed exactly for that purpose. By reducing the overall weight of the instrument, surgeons can experience enhanced control and minimized hand fatigue, which is particularly beneficial during long, repetitive, or complex surgical operations.

What is the primary advantage of the Crile-Wood design?

The Crile-Wood pattern offers an ideal middle ground in surgical instrumentation. Its gently tapered, blunt tips provide a delicate touch suitable for small to medium needles, balancing fine control with the sturdiness required for effective suturing.

Is this needle holder safe for those with latex allergies?

Yes, this instrument is completely latex-free. It is manufactured from high-grade stainless steel and is not made with any natural rubber latex, ensuring safety for both surgical staff and patients with latex sensitivities.

Can I rely on this for long-term clinical use?

Certainly. This is a reusable surgical instrument built to Sklar Premium standards. Its construction from high-grade stainless steel, combined with the fact that it is a factory-new, professional-grade tool, means it is designed for consistent, long-term performance.

Does the handle mechanism hold securely during use?

The handle includes a ratchet mechanism integrated into the finger rings. This allows you to lock the needle holder firmly in place, providing consistent pressure and security throughout your suturing procedure.

What quality standards does this instrument meet?

This needle holder is manufactured to Sklar Premium or Grade standards, which are recognized for their rigorous quality control. Furthermore, it is TAA compliant, confirming it adheres to strict procurement and manufacturing specifications.

How does the weight difference feel compared to standard models?

While the dimensions remain a standard 6-inch length, the ‘Extra Light’ modification shaves off excess material to create a notably lighter feel. This subtle reduction in weight translates to greater maneuverability and precision in your hands.

Is there a guarantee for the quality of this tool?

Yes, this product is backed by a Lifetime warranty. This reflects the high level of confidence in the craftsmanship and the durability of the high-grade stainless steel used in its production.
