Description

Sklarlite Crile Hemostatic Forceps, also known as a Crile Hemostat, are most commonly used for clamping blood vessels or tissue before cauterization or ligation. Horizontal serrations the entire length of the jaw, and jaws half the length of the shank make this instrument unique. They may also be used for soft tissue dissection typically no deeper than 6-8 inches or in Laparotomy procedures. Sklarlite instruments are a lighter version of standard Sklar instruments. A unique manufacturing process developed by Sklar shaves microns off standard and delicate pattern instruments while maintaining structural integrity and durability. This lightweight modification provides the surgeon with greater control and less fatigue. This product is straight with serrated tips, and an overall length of 7-1/2 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Does this lightweight design impact the instrument's strength?

Not at all. The Sklarlite manufacturing process is a specialized technique that removes minimal material—just microns—to reduce weight. This ensures that while you get the benefit of a lighter instrument, the structural integrity and durability remain fully intact for demanding surgical tasks.

Is this tool suitable for deep tissue procedures?

Yes, with a length of 7-1/2 inches, these forceps are well-suited for soft tissue dissection in moderate depth ranges (up to 6-8 inches) and are frequently utilized in Laparotomy procedures.

Does this instrument offer precise grip for vessel clamping?

Absolutely. The jaws are engineered with horizontal serrations that run the entire length of the jaw, ensuring a secure, reliable hold on blood vessels or tissue prior to cauterization or ligation.

Will this help reduce hand fatigue during long surgeries?

Yes, that is the primary advantage of the Sklarlite line. The reduced weight of the instrument is specifically designed to provide surgeons with better tactile feedback and help minimize hand and wrist fatigue during extended, complex procedures.

Is this instrument safe for patients with latex allergies?

Yes, you can use these with confidence. The forceps are guaranteed to be not made with natural rubber latex, making them a safe choice for your surgical environment.

What is the specific grade of stainless steel used?

These forceps are manufactured to Sklar premium grade standards. This commitment to high-quality materials ensures they are durable enough for repeated, long-term use in clinical settings.

Does the ratchet mechanism provide a secure lock?

Yes, the instrument features a reliable ratchet mechanism located on the finger-ring handles. This allows you to lock the jaws in place securely, maintaining consistent pressure on the tissue or vessel being clamped.

Are these forceps ready for immediate use?

These instruments are supplied non-sterile. They require proper cleaning and sterilization according to your facility’s protocols before being introduced into a surgical field.

How do the jaws compare to the length of the shank?

For optimal control and mechanical advantage, these Crile forceps feature jaws that are precisely half the length of the shank, providing the perfect balance for clamping and dissection tasks.

Can I trust the durability of this instrument?

Certainly. We stand behind the quality of these forceps with a Lifetime Warranty. This reflects our confidence in the high-grade stainless steel construction and the professional craftsmanship of the Sklarlite line.
