Description

Sklarlite Sklarcut Operating Scissors, also known as Surgical Scissors, are a versatile surgical instrument. With three available tip configurations (sharp/sharp, blunt/blunt, or sharp/blunt), varying curvatures and multiple lengths, these scissors are used for general, multipurpose cutting and dissecting. Sharp Operating Scissors cut tougher tissue and are frequently used for dissecting, whereas blunt Operating Scissors are more often used for cutting materials such as sutures, tubing, or gauze. Sklarlite Sklarcut Scissors are a lighter version of the standard Sklar scissors that feature micro-serrations on one blade to assist in securely holding the tissue during cutting and minimize tissue from slipping so the most accurate and atraumatic cuts can be made. A unique manufacturing process developed by Sklar shaves microns off standard pattern instruments while maintaining structural integrity and durability. This lightweight modification provides the surgeon with greater control and less fatigue. Sklarcut scissors are identified by a single gold coated finger ring on the handle of the serrated blade. This product is straight with one micro-serrated edge blade, sharp/blunt tips, and an overall length of 5-1/2 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Sklarlite design effectively reduce hand fatigue?

Yes. The Sklarlite manufacturing process specifically shaves microns off the instrument’s weight compared to standard patterns. This reduction helps minimize surgeon fatigue during extended surgical procedures without compromising the tool’s structural integrity.

How do the micro-serrations improve cutting accuracy?

The micro-serrations on one of the blades are designed to securely grip tissue during use. This functionality effectively prevents the tissue from slipping between the blades, ensuring a more precise, clean, and atraumatic cut.

Is this model suitable for both tissue and suture cutting?

Absolutely. The Sharp/Blunt tip configuration provides excellent versatility:

  • Sharp side: Ideal for cutting tougher tissue.
  • Blunt side: Perfect for trimming materials like sutures, tubing, or gauze.
How can I easily identify the serrated blade?

The Sklarcut design features a unique, gold-coated finger ring on the handle. This ring is explicitly placed on the handle that corresponds to the blade featuring the micro-serrations, allowing for quick visual identification during use.

Are these scissors safe for patients with latex sensitivities?

Yes. These scissors are completely free of natural rubber latex, making them safe for use in environments where latex allergies are a concern.

What type of stainless steel is used for these instruments?

These scissors are constructed from high-grade stainless steel, ensuring the durability and corrosion resistance required for professional, reusable surgical instrumentation.

What preparation is required before using these scissors?

As these scissors are shipped non-sterile, they must undergo a proper sterilization process in accordance with your facility’s protocols before being used in a clinical or surgical environment.

Are these tools compliant with government procurement standards?

Yes, this product is TAA compliant, meeting the necessary requirements for federal procurement and supply chain standards.

How durable are these scissors for repeated daily use?

These are professional-grade, reusable surgical instruments designed for longevity. Because they are engineered for repeated sterilization and use, they are supported by a Lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.

What is the primary advantage of the 5-1/2 inch length?

The 5-1/2 inch length is a standard, versatile size that offers an optimal balance between reach and control. It is specifically designed to provide surgeons with precise handling during general multipurpose cutting and dissecting tasks.
