Description

Sklarlite Sklarcut Operating Scissors, also known as Surgical Scissors, are a versatile surgical instrument. With three available tip configurations (sharp/sharp, blunt/blunt, or sharp/blunt), varying curvatures and multiple lengths, these scissors are used for general, multipurpose cutting and dissecting. Sharp Operating Scissors cut tougher tissue and are frequently used for dissecting, whereas blunt Operating Scissors are more often used for cutting materials such as sutures, tubing, or gauze. Sklarlite Sklarcut Scissors are a lighter version of the standard Sklar scissors that feature micro-serrations on one blade to assist in securely holding the tissue during cutting and minimize tissue from slipping so the most accurate and atraumatic cuts can be made. A unique manufacturing process developed by Sklar shaves microns off standard pattern instruments while maintaining structural integrity and durability. This lightweight modification provides the surgeon with greater control and less fatigue. Sklarcut scissors are identified by a single gold coated finger ring on the handle of the serrated blade. This product is curved with one micro-serrated edge blade, sharp/blunt tips, and an overall length of 5-1/2 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Does the lightweight design impact the tool's durability?

Not at all. While the Sklarlite process shaves microns off standard patterns to reduce weight and operator fatigue, the scissors are crafted from premium, high-grade stainless steel. This ensures they maintain their full structural integrity and durability for long-term, professional use.

What is the primary benefit of the micro-serrated blade?

The micro-serrations are engineered to securely grip tissue during the cutting process. This specific feature significantly minimizes slippage, allowing for more precise, accurate, and atraumatic incisions compared to standard smooth-edged blades.

Why is there a gold coating on one of the finger rings?

The gold ring serves as a quick visual indicator to help the user identify which handle controls the micro-serrated blade. This allows for faster identification during surgical procedures.

Are these scissors suitable for cutting sutures or gauze?

Yes, absolutely. The Blunt/Sharp (S/B) configuration is highly versatile. You can utilize the sharp tip for tougher tissue dissection, while the blunt edge is ideal for routine, safe cutting of materials like sutures, gauze, or dressing supplies.

Can these scissors be reused after sterilization?

Yes, these are designed as reusable surgical instruments. They are constructed from high-quality stainless steel meant to withstand repeated sterilization cycles in a professional clinical environment.

Is this instrument safe for use if I have a latex allergy?

Yes. The Sklarcut Sklarlite Operating Scissors are not made with natural rubber latex, making them a safe choice for surgical environments requiring latex-free equipment.

What specific grade of stainless steel is used for these scissors?

These scissors are manufactured as Sklar Premium or Grade, representing high-quality surgical instrumentation designed for consistent performance and longevity in demanding medical settings.

Is the curved design beneficial for specific types of procedures?

The curved-on-flat design is essential for procedures that require more ergonomic access to tissue. The curvature allows for better visibility and approach angles when navigating around anatomical structures or cutting deeper into the surgical field.

How does the weight reduction help during long surgeries?

The lightweight modification is specifically intended to reduce hand and wrist fatigue. By shaving unnecessary weight off the standard instrument pattern, the surgeon experiences greater control and reduced physical strain during extended or high-volume surgical sessions.

Are these scissors compliant with official trade standards?

Yes, this product is TAA Compliant, meaning it meets the standards set by the Trade Agreements Act, ensuring it is suitable for procurement in government and military medical facilities.
