Description

Sklarcut Operating Scissors, also known as Surgical Scissors, are a versatile surgical instrument. With three available tip configurations (sharp/sharp, blunt/blunt, or sharp/blunt), varying curvatures and multiple lengths, these scissors are used for general, multipurpose cutting and dissecting. Sharp Operating Scissors cut tougher tissue and are frequently used for dissecting, whereas blunt Operating Scissors are more often used for cutting materials such as sutures, tubing, or gauze. Sklarcut scissors feature micro-serrations on one blade to reduce trauma when cutting both delicate and course tissue. These serrations assist in securely holding the tissue during cutting and minimizes tissue from slipping so the most accurate and clean cuts can be made. Sklarcut scissors are identified by a single gold coated finger ring on the handle of the serrated blade. This product is curved with one micro-serrated edge blade, sharp/blunt tips, and an overall length of 5-1/2 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Does the micro-serrated edge improve cutting precision?

Absolutely. The micro-serrations are engineered to securely grip delicate and coarse materials alike. This technology helps to:

  • Reduce blade slippage during use.
  • Minimize surrounding tissue trauma.
  • Ensure cleaner, more controlled incisions.
Is high-quality stainless steel used for these scissors?

Yes. These instruments are crafted from premium-grade stainless steel. This material is selected specifically for its durability and resistance to wear, ensuring that these scissors can withstand the rigors of repeated surgical use.

Why is the sharp/blunt tip configuration helpful?

The Sharp/Blunt (S/B) configuration provides multipurpose utility in a single instrument:

  • Sharp Tip: Ideal for precise dissection of tougher tissues.
  • Blunt Tip: Perfect for cutting materials like sutures, gauze, or tubing without causing accidental punctures to surrounding areas.
How can I identify the serrated blade quickly?

We have included a helpful visual indicator for your convenience. The handle ring on the serrated blade side is gold-coated. This allows for immediate, intuitive differentiation between the standard edge and the micro-serrated edge during procedures.

Are these scissors suitable for cutting tougher tissue?

Yes, they are designed as a multipurpose surgical tool. The robust stainless steel construction, combined with the micro-serrated edge, allows for effective handling of both delicate tissues and coarser materials with minimal effort.

Are these instruments safe for latex-sensitive environments?

Yes. This product is 100% free of natural rubber latex. You can use these safely in clinical environments where latex sensitivity is a concern for patients or staff.

Are these scissors designed for multiple uses?

Yes, these are reusable surgical instruments. They are built to high Sklar Premium standards, ensuring they retain their sharpness and functionality through repeated sterilization and usage cycles.

How does the curved design benefit the user?

The curved-on-flat design is intended to enhance ergonomics and precision. This specific geometry allows the instrument to glide along tissue planes more effectively, making it superior for specific dissection tasks compared to straight-blade alternatives.

Do these scissors meet professional medical standards?

Yes. These instruments are TAA compliant, meeting the stringent regulatory requirements expected in professional medical and surgical settings.

Are these reliable for a long-term surgical tool?

They are built to last. Because they are constructed to Sklar Premium standards, these scissors are engineered for consistent performance over time. Their durability is further backed by a Lifetime Warranty, giving you peace of mind regarding the long-term investment in your equipment.
