Description

Sklar's Troutman-Katzin Corneal Transplant Scissors are primarily used for cutting corneal tissue in Keratoplasty procedures. They are very similar to Katzin Corneal Transplant Scissors but feature an additional locking mechanism on the handle that is able to keep the lower blade from moving. Like the Katzin scissors, the blades are different lengths, and available curved right or curved left to maximize the precisin of cutting. The double spring handle is also fenestrated. This product has small blades, strongly curved to the left. It also features a stop to avoid damage to both the tissue and the instrument due to excessive pressure while cutting. The overall length is 4 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Are these scissors suitable for delicate corneal surgery?

Yes, these are professional-grade instruments specifically engineered for Keratoplasty (corneal transplant) procedures. They are optimized to provide the precision required for cutting delicate corneal tissue.

What features ensure precision during complex procedures?

To maximize control during delicate maneuvers, this model includes:

Differential Blade Lengths: Specifically designed for enhanced cutting accuracy.

Strong Left Curvature: Tailored for surgeons requiring left-curved configurations.

Locking Mechanism: Secures the lower blade for superior stability.

Does the design help prevent accidental tissue damage?

Yes, the instrument features an integrated physical stop mechanism. This guard prevents the application of excessive pressure, protecting both the delicate corneal tissue and the instrument blades from potential damage.

Is the stainless steel construction durable for repeated use?

Absolutely. These scissors are manufactured from high-grade stainless steel and are fully reusable, supporting long-term investment. They are designed to withstand repeated sterilization cycles.

Is the handle design ergonomic for long surgeries?

The scissors feature a double spring, fenestrated handle design. The fenestrations (perforations) reduce the overall weight of the instrument while providing a secure and comfortable grip for the surgeon.

What is the total length of the instrument?

The Sklar Troutman-Katzin Corneal Transplant Scissors measure exactly 4 inches in total length, ensuring a compact and manageable size for ophthalmic microsurgery.

Are these instruments free from natural rubber latex?

Yes, the product is confirmed to be not made with natural rubber latex, ensuring safety for both patients and surgical staff with latex sensitivities.

What does the CensiTrac marking indicate?

The CensiTrac marking signifies that the instrument is compatible with advanced tracking and management systems often used in clinical settings to monitor the usage and sterilization history of reusable surgical instruments.

Do these come pre-sterilized for immediate use?

No, these units are sold as non-sterile. They must be subjected to appropriate sterilization protocols according to your facility’s requirements before their first use in a surgical setting.

Is this a TAA-compliant surgical instrument?

Yes, this product is TAA compliant, meeting the necessary requirements for federal procurement and specialized medical supply standards.
