Frequently asked questions

Does the diamond dust coating actually improve needle grip?

Yes, the diamond dust coating on the cross-serrated jaws provides superior needle retention. It creates an exceptionally secure hold on fine suture needles and also significantly enhances the jaws’ resistance to operational wear over time.

Is this instrument comfortable to hold during long procedures?

Absolutely. It features semi-cylindrical, texturized grips designed for optimal ergonomics. These grips are specifically crafted to provide enhanced tactile feedback and control, which helps minimize operator fatigue during lengthy microsurgical procedures.

How does the curved design help in surgery?

The curved configuration is engineered specifically for navigating small, confined, or difficult-to-reach surgical sites. It allows for better access and more precise manipulation compared to straight instruments.

Why is there no locking mechanism on this holder?

This model features a double leaf spring handle without a catch to facilitate free-flowing, precise movement. By omitting the locking mechanism, the instrument allows the surgeon to maintain control and sensitivity without the obstruction of a catch, which is ideal for high-precision microsurgery.

Is the stainless steel construction durable enough for repeated use?

Yes, it is constructed from high-grade stainless steel and is specifically designed for repeated, long-term use. Its robust design ensures reliability and longevity, even when subjected to standard clinical sterilization and processing routines.

Does this meet institutional procurement standards?

Yes, the Sklar Toledo Micro Needle Holder is TAA compliant. This certification makes it an appropriate choice for government and institutional procurement needs that require adherence to Trade Agreements Act requirements.

What types of procedures is this best suited for?

This instrument is ideal for:

  • Microsurgery
  • Ophthalmic procedures
  • Any surgical application requiring delicate, precise handling of fine suture needles.
Can I expect good tactile feedback from the handle?

Definitely. The handle is equipped with texturized, semi-cylindrical grips that are designed to maximize tactile feedback. This allows the surgeon to maintain fine-tuned control over needle manipulation, which is essential in microsurgical environments.

Is this instrument safe for patients with latex allergies?

Yes, this instrument is not made with natural rubber latex. It is constructed entirely from stainless steel, ensuring it is a safe option for clinical environments where latex sensitivities are a concern.

Does this come ready for surgery right out of the box?

No, this instrument is supplied non-sterile. Like most professional-grade surgical tools, it will require appropriate cleaning and sterilization processing according to your facility’s protocols before it can be used in a clinical procedure.
