Frequently asked questions

Does this needle holder provide a secure, reliable grip?

Yes, this instrument is designed for maximum control. The jaws are cross-serrated and coated with diamond dust, which significantly improves grip security on fine suture needles and minimizes accidental slippage during delicate procedures.

Is the design suitable for long, delicate surgeries?

Absolutely. The handle features semi-cylindrical, texturized grips specifically engineered for ergonomic comfort and enhanced control, making it well-suited for extended use during intricate microsurgical procedures.

Why is the 'without catch' feature beneficial?

The absence of a locking catch mechanism allows for unrestricted, precise manipulation of needles. It provides the surgeon with direct, fluid control without needing to engage or disengage a locking latch, which is essential for rapid, fine adjustments.

Is this instrument durable enough for repeated clinical use?

Yes, it is built for longevity. Constructed from high-quality stainless steel, this instrument is designed to withstand the rigors of repeated sterilization and clinical use, serving as a reliable long-term asset.

Does this tool work well in very tight spaces?

Yes, the instrument’s straight configuration and slender profile make it an excellent choice for reaching into confined or small operative sites where maneuverability is critical for microsurgery.

Is this product latex-free?

Yes, the Sklar Toledo Micro Needle Holder is not made with natural rubber latex, ensuring it meets safety standards for environments where latex sensitivity is a concern.

How does the spring mechanism assist in operation?

The instrument utilizes a double leaf spring handle, which naturally keeps the jaws open until pressure is applied. This automatic return feature facilitates easy handling and precise, one-handed control of suture needles.

Is this instrument compliant with professional procurement standards?

Yes, this Sklar Toledo Needle Holder is TAA compliant, meeting the standards required for instruments often utilized in federal and institutional healthcare settings.

What is the recommended approach for preparing this for surgery?

The instrument arrives in a non-sterile condition. It must undergo standard cleaning and sterilization protocols appropriate for reusable surgical stainless steel instruments before being introduced into the sterile field.

Does the diamond dust coating offer wear resistance?

Yes. Beyond providing superior grip, the diamond dust coating serves to harden the jaw surface, offering enhanced resistance to the operational wear that typically degrades standard metal jaws over time.
