Description

Sklar's Toledo Micro Forceps are commonly used for holding and dissection of small, fine vessels and membranes. They are available straight, curved, or angled, and with or without teeth. The handle has semi-cylandrical, ergonomicly designed, texturized grips for optimal comfort and utilization. This style of handle allows the user to change direction and angle of the instrument by rolling, which is particularly useful during dissection. This product features diamond coated jaws to provide a secure grip as well as an increased resistance to wear. It has straight, atraumatic, 0.7mm jaws, and an overall length of 8-1/4 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Does the diamond dust coating improve grip security?

Yes, the diamond dust coating applied to the cross-serrated jaws is specifically designed to maximize grip security. This premium feature provides:

  • Exceptional traction on small vessels and membranes.
  • Superior resistance to wear and tear over the instrument’s lifespan.
How does the handle design help during precise dissection?

The forceps feature an ergonomic thumb handle with a semi-cylindrical, texturized surface. This design allows you to:

  • Easily rotate the instrument between your fingers to adjust the angle mid-procedure.
  • Maintain tactile control for more fluid movement during delicate, intricate surgical tasks.
Are the jaws gentle enough for delicate tissue handling?

Absolutely. The jaws are specifically engineered as 0.7mm atraumatic tips. They are designed to provide a secure hold while minimizing potential trauma to fragile tissues and membranes, making them ideal for high-precision work.

Can I rely on these for repeated surgical use?

Yes, these are professional-grade, reusable stainless steel instruments. They are built to withstand the rigors of frequent sterilization and use in surgical or laboratory environments.

Do these forceps contain any natural rubber latex?

No, this product is not made with natural rubber latex, ensuring it is safe for use in environments where latex sensitivities are a concern.

Are these instruments compliant with TAA standards?

Yes, the Sklar Toledo Micro Forceps are TAA (Trade Agreements Act) compliant, meeting the necessary standards for institutional and government procurement.

How precise are the jaw tips on this instrument?

The jaw tips measure 0.7mm, which is optimized for microsurgical precision. The combination of this fine width and the cross-serrated working edge allows for accurate holding and dissection of very small, fine structures.

Is this instrument suitable for microsurgical tasks?

Yes, it is highly recommended for microsurgery. The combination of the 8-1/4 inch length, ergonomic handle, and diamond-dusted tips makes it ideal for procedures involving:

  • Fine vessel ligation
  • Membrane separation
  • Any task where tool slippage must be prevented
Does the cross-serrated design offer extra control?

The cross-serrated design, combined with the diamond dust coating, creates a multi-directional gripping surface. This prevents side-to-side slipping, giving you much higher confidence when manipulating delicate structures compared to smooth or standard-serrated jaws.

Can I rotate the instrument easily while operating?

Yes, the unique semi-cylindrical grip is specifically intended for that purpose. It allows the surgeon to roll the instrument between the thumb and fingers, enabling precise, real-time adjustments to the working angle without having to reposition your hand.
