Frequently asked questions

Does the Tungsten Carbide offer superior needle grip?

Yes, the integration of Tungsten Carbide (TC) inserts is a key feature that provides a significantly more secure grip on fine suture needles compared to standard stainless steel jaws. This material is specifically chosen for its high resistance to wear, ensuring that the instrument maintains its gripping precision over time.

Is the handle designed for comfort during long procedures?

Absolutely. The instrument features an ergonomic, semi-cylindrical handle design with texturized grips. This configuration is specifically engineered to provide better tactile feedback, comfort, and control for surgeons during prolonged, delicate microsurgical tasks.

How precise is the needle holder tip?

This needle holder is optimized for microsurgery, featuring a 0.3mm micro profile on the jaws. This fine tip allows for exceptional precision, making it the ideal choice for manipulating very fine needles within confined surgical sites.

Is this instrument built to last?

Yes, it is a high-grade, reusable surgical instrument constructed from premium stainless steel. By incorporating Tungsten Carbide inserts, the tool is designed to resist wear and maintain its integrity through repeated use, backed by a lifetime warranty.

Why is the 'without catch' design beneficial?

The ‘without catch’ design is intentional for microsurgical procedures where the surgeon needs fluid, uninterrupted movement. By eliminating the locking mechanism, the instrument allows for quick adjustments and consistent, pressure-sensitive control provided by the double leaf spring system.

Can I use this for non-microsurgical procedures?

While it is specifically engineered for microsurgical applications that require delicate needle manipulation and minimal instrument bulk, its precision and quality make it a versatile tool for any high-precision operative field that demands exact control and fine tip access.

Is the instrument made from latex-free materials?

Yes, this Sklar TC Toledo Micro Needle Holder is not made with natural rubber latex, making it safe for use in clinical environments where latex sensitivity is a concern.

How does the double leaf spring assist in operation?

The double leaf spring thumb handle is designed to provide smooth, consistent tension. This mechanical advantage ensures that the surgeon maintains steady control over the needle without having to constantly engage or disengage a locking catch, which is critical for intricate work.

What is the benefit of the cross-serrated jaw style?

The cross-serrated working edge increases friction against the needle surface. Combined with the Tungsten Carbide inserts, this texture ensures the needle stays firmly in place, preventing unwanted rotation or slipping during complex suturing maneuvers.

Is this product compliant with medical standards?

Yes, this instrument is TAA compliant, meeting rigorous standards required for government and institutional medical procurement. As a Sklar premium grade instrument, it is manufactured to high-quality surgical specifications.
