Frequently asked questions

Are the Tungsten Carbide inserts highly durable?

Yes. The Tungsten Carbide (TC) inserts are specifically chosen to provide superior performance compared to standard steel. Key benefits include: • Significantly higher resistance to abrasion and wear. • A much more secure grip on fine suture needles, reducing the risk of slippage during critical moments.

Is this instrument comfortable for long procedures?

Absolutely. It is designed with ergonomics in mind, specifically featuring semi-cylindrical, texturized grips. This design promotes optimal comfort and reduces hand fatigue during delicate or extended surgical procedures.

Why is there no locking catch mechanism?

The absence of a locking catch is a deliberate design choice for microsurgical precision. It allows surgeons to perform rapid, continuous needle manipulation without the need to engage or disengage a mechanical lock, providing greater fluidity in confined spaces.

Is the material safe for patients with latex allergies?

Yes. This instrument is constructed from high-quality stainless steel and Tungsten Carbide. It is not manufactured with natural rubber latex, making it a safe choice for surgical environments involving sensitive patients.

Is this tool optimized for microsurgery?

Yes, it is engineered specifically for microsurgical applications. The 8-1/4 inch length provides the necessary reach, while the curved, smooth jaws allow for precise control of fine suture materials in small anatomical sites.

How does the double leaf spring mechanism perform?

The double leaf spring handle design ensures smooth, responsive action. This provides the tactile feedback required for fine needle control, offering a significant advantage over stiffer, traditional needle holder mechanisms.

Can this instrument be sterilized for repeated use?

Yes. This is a premium, reusable surgical instrument. It is designed to be fully integrated into sterilization cycles and surgical kits, adhering to standard requirements for high-grade reusable surgical tools.

Is this considered a professional-grade instrument?

Yes. As a Sklar Premium instrument, it is manufactured to high standards of quality and precision. It is built to withstand the rigors of professional surgical environments.

Does the handle texture help with grip stability?

Yes. The handle features fine cross-hatch texturing across the semi-cylindrical surface. This texture is specifically engineered to enhance stability and prevent slipping, ensuring you maintain a firm, confident hold even during intricate maneuvers.

Does this meet government compliance standards?

Yes. The Sklar TC Toledo Micro Needle Holder is TAA Compliant, meeting the specific requirements necessary for use in government and federally-funded surgical facilities.
