Frequently asked questions

Does this needle holder provide a secure, non-slip grip?

Yes, this instrument is designed for maximum control. It features Tungsten Carbide (TC) inserts in the jaws to ensure a firm, secure hold on fine needles, paired with semi-cylindrical, texturized grips on the handle to prevent slippage during use.

Is the design suitable for very delicate microsurgical tasks?

Absolutely. It is engineered specifically for precision work, featuring a 0.3mm micro profile on the jaws. This fine profile allows for excellent visibility and manipulation in very small operative sites.

Is the material durable enough for frequent clinical use?

The instrument is built for longevity. By utilizing Tungsten Carbide inserts, the jaws are significantly more resistant to abrasive wear than standard stainless steel, ensuring the instrument maintains its performance through repeated use and sterilization cycles.

Does the curved profile help with specific surgical angles?

Yes, the curved blade profile is specifically beneficial for maneuvering in anatomical areas where a straight instrument may be less efficient, providing improved access and a better line of sight during delicate procedures.

Is this instrument ergonomic for long procedures?

It is designed with user comfort in mind. The double leaf spring handle combined with the ergonomic, texturized grips helps reduce hand fatigue during extended microsurgical procedures.

Is this device made with latex-free materials?

Yes, the Sklar TC Toledo Micro Needle Holder is not made with natural rubber latex, making it a safe choice for surgical environments where latex allergies are a concern.

How does the handle function without a locking catch?

This model is designed without a catch to provide a fluid, responsive feel for the surgeon. The double leaf spring mechanism provides consistent tension, allowing for smooth opening and closing without the need to manually engage or disengage a lock.

What standards of compliance does this instrument meet?

This instrument is TAA (Trade Agreements Act) compliant, ensuring it meets the necessary quality and sourcing requirements for use in government and medical facilities that require strict regulatory adherence.

Can this be sterilized for repeated use?

Yes, this is a reusable instrument. It is constructed from high-quality stainless steel and tungsten carbide, designed to withstand standard sterilization protocols used in surgical settings.

Is this tool intended for a specific type of suture needle?

It is optimized for use with very fine suture needles. The combination of the 0.3mm micro profile and the high-grip Tungsten Carbide jaws makes it an ideal instrument for microsurgery where extreme precision and delicate handling are required.
