Frequently asked questions

Does this tool offer high-precision control for fine suturing?

Yes, this instrument is specifically engineered for microvascular and cardiovascular procedures. It features finely cross-serrated, tapered jaws that provide a secure, reliable grip on the extremely delicate sutures used in these sensitive surgical environments.

Are the tungsten carbide inserts permanently attached?

Absolutely. The tungsten carbide inserts are permanently bonded to the stainless steel jaws. This design maximizes both sharpness and precision, ensuring the instrument maintains its superior performance for a significantly longer lifespan compared to standard surgical tools.

Is this needle holder comfortable to use during long procedures?

The instrument is designed with an ergonomic thumb handle style and a curved profile. This configuration is optimized for precise manipulation, allowing surgeons to maintain excellent tactile feedback and control throughout delicate suturing tasks.

Is this a reusable surgical instrument?

Yes, this is a high-grade, reusable surgical instrument. Constructed from durable stainless steel and featuring robust tungsten carbide components, it is built to withstand repeated use while maintaining its high-performance standards.

Does the instrument feature a locking mechanism?

This model does not incorporate a locking mechanism. This design choice prioritizes fluid, responsive movement and immediate tactile feedback, which is essential for the high-precision manipulation required in micro-suturing.

Is this product made with latex materials?

No, the Sklar TC Jacobson Needle Holder is not made with natural rubber latex, making it a safe choice for surgical environments and practitioners with latex sensitivities.

Is this instrument built to last for my career?

How is this tool different from standard needle holders?

Does the instrument require any special maintenance for sterilization?

The product is supplied non-sterile, so it must be processed through your facility’s standard sterilization protocols for stainless steel surgical instruments before its first use and between procedures. It is designed to be fully compatible with these routine clinical cleaning and sterilization cycles.

Is this instrument compliant with professional standards?

Yes, the instrument is TAA compliant. Being manufactured to Sklar’s high-quality premium grade, it meets the rigorous performance and construction standards required for modern, demanding surgical environments.
