Description

Sklar's Sypert Double-Action Rongeur is a large, orthopedic instrument used for removing portions of bone or dense bony tissue. It is available with a variety of jaw sizes to suit the sections of bone requiring removal. Due to its overall size, it is most appropriately used on bone in unrestricted surgical sites where potential damage to surrounding structures is low. The neck of this rongeur is longer than most double-action rongeurs due to the greater distance between the hinges. Whereas most double action rongeurs feature all of the hinges in close proximity to one another, the first pivot hinge on this Sypert rongeur is a greater distance from the second, thus creating the long neck. The jaws have sharp, eliptical shape, scooping tips that gnaw away at the target area. The double spring, plier handles feature one horn on the upper handle to provide the user with a more comfortable and controlling grip. This product has smooth, 4mm wide, jaws with an overall length of 14-1/2 inches.

The extended distance between the first and second pivot hinges provides a long neck reach, which is essential for accessing and operating within restricted surgical areas where a standard rongeur might not fit.

Is the ergonomic grip designed for long procedures?

Absolutely. The handle features a specialized horn on the upper handle, which is engineered to provide the surgeon with improved leverage, comfort, and steady control during intricate orthopedic tasks.

Can this be used for heavy-duty orthopedic work?

Yes, this instrument is constructed from high-grade stainless steel and is specifically built to withstand the demands of excising dense bone tissue in orthopedic surgery.

Are the tips effective for precise bone removal?

The instrument features sharp, elliptical, scooping tips designed to gnaw away bone material with high precision, ensuring that the target area is addressed effectively.

Is this instrument safe for those with latex allergies?

Yes, the product is 100% latex-free and is not manufactured with any natural rubber latex, making it safe for patients with latex sensitivities.

Does the construction meet professional standards?

The rongeur is TAA compliant and precision-engineered with high-quality hinges and jaw components, ensuring it meets the rigorous demands of a surgical environment.

How should this instrument be maintained for reuse?

As a reusable surgical instrument, it should be processed following standard hospital sterilization protocols for stainless steel surgical tools. It is shipped non-sterile and must be sterilized before its first use.

What is the jaw width of the rongeur?
