Yes, the Sklar Stille Gouge is purpose-built for demanding orthopedic and neurological procedures. It is specifically engineered to be used with a surgical mallet, providing the structural integrity needed to cut and shape bone tissue effectively.

How does the handle design improve surgical control?

The instrument features a straight hexagonal handle which is specifically crafted to provide a secure and ergonomic grip. This design ensures the surgeon maintains steady control during high-impact tasks, reducing the risk of slippage.

Is the material resistant to long-term clinical wear?

Absolutely. This tool is constructed from premium-grade stainless steel, ensuring it remains durable and maintains its functional integrity even after repeated use in a clinical setting.

How does the blade design manage impact force?

The blade is strategically tapered, meaning it widens as it extends from the handle. This specialized geometry allows for:

  • Controlled force distribution when the instrument is struck with a mallet.
  • Enhanced accuracy during precise bone cutting.
Is this product safe for patients with latex allergies?

Yes, the Sklar Stille Gouge is not made with natural rubber latex, making it a safe choice for use in clinical environments where latex sensitivity is a concern.

Can this be used for various types of bone work?

Yes, while this specific model (40-6348) is a standard high-quality gouge, the Sklar Stille line is highly versatile. It is available in multiple blade profiles, including:

  • Beveled and flat blades

  • Funnel scoop curved blades
Is this instrument compliant with professional standards?

Yes, this instrument is TAA compliant, meeting the necessary regulatory standards required for use in professional medical and surgical facilities.

What is the total length of the instrument?

The Sklar Stille Gouge measures 8 inches in length, which provides an optimal balance between maneuverability for the surgeon and reach for specific orthopedic sites.

Is this a reliable tool for professional operating rooms?

Yes, this is a factory-new, professional-grade surgical instrument. It is designed to be a consistent, high-performing component of a surgical kit, backed by Sklar’s commitment to quality for neurological and orthopedic environments.
