Description

Sklar Spencer Wells Forceps are hemostatic forceps used to control blood flow in vessels. They have short, serrated jaws, which can completely seal small blood vessels. On larger vessels they may be used to temporarily control the blood flow, and left to be sutured later. The handles of the Spencer Wells forceps were designed to be notably closer together in an effort to eliminate tangling of arteries within them. Ratcheted versions typically only have 1 or 2 locks. They are available with either curved or straight jaws in a number of lengths. This product is straight and has an overall length of 8 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Is the material durable enough for frequent sterilization?

Yes, these are crafted from high-quality, professional-grade stainless steel. This material ensures they can withstand the repeated sterilization cycles necessary for reusable surgical instruments without compromising their structural integrity.

How does the handle design help prevent tangling during use?

The Spencer-Wells pattern features handles that are specifically engineered to sit closer together. This unique geometry significantly minimizes the risk of arteries or surrounding tissues becoming tangled in the finger rings during complex surgical procedures.

Are these forceps safe for patients with latex allergies?

Absolutely. These forceps are 100% latex-free and are not manufactured using natural rubber latex, providing peace of mind for both the surgical team and patients sensitive to common allergens.

Do these forceps arrive sterile and ready for immediate use?

These instruments are supplied non-sterile. They require proper cleaning and standard sterilization protocols to be followed in accordance with your facility’s requirements before they are used in any medical procedure.

How effective are these for controlling blood flow?

They are highly effective professional-grade hemostatic instruments. They allow you to:

  • Completely seal small blood vessels.
  • Temporarily clamp larger vessels securely for later suturing.
How does the jaw design ensure a secure grip?

The jaws are equipped with a precision-engineered serrated edge. This specialized texture provides a reliable, non-slip grip, ensuring that tissue or vessels remain held securely throughout the procedure.

Does this instrument meet official compliance standards?

Yes, these Sklar forceps meet Trade Agreements Act (TAA) compliance standards, making them a suitable choice for procurement in medical facilities that require strict adherence to these regulatory guidelines.

What type of surgical access are the straight jaws best for?

The straight jaw design is ideal for surgical approaches that require a clear, direct line of access. They provide excellent reach and control when working on targeted vessels without the need for curvature.

Is the craftsmanship protected by a warranty?

We stand behind the quality and durability of this instrument with a lifetime warranty against any manufacturer defects, ensuring long-term reliability in your surgical kit.

Are these suitable for use in medical training facilities?

Yes, while these are essential tools for professional operating rooms and surgical centers, their durable construction and standard professional design make them an excellent choice for medical training facilities and educational environments.
