Description

Sklar Spencer Wells Forceps are hemostatic forceps used to control blood flow in vessels. They have short, serrated jaws, which can completely seal small blood vessels. On larger vessels they may be used to temporarily control the blood flow, and left to be sutured later. The handles of the Spencer Wells forceps were designed to be notably closer together in an effort to eliminate tangling of arteries within them. Ratcheted versions typically only have 1 or 2 locks. They are available with either curved or straight jaws in a number of lengths. This product is straight and has an overall length of 6 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Are these built from high-quality stainless steel?

Yes, they are manufactured from durable stainless steel. This material ensures the instruments are robust, long-lasting, and fully suitable for repeated use in demanding medical environments.

Does the handle design prevent arterial tangling?

Yes. The Spencer Wells pattern is specifically engineered with finger rings positioned closer together than standard forceps. This intentional design reduces the risk of tangling delicate arteries during manipulation.

Do the serrated jaws provide a secure grip?

Absolutely. The jaws feature precision-engineered serrated edges designed to provide a complete, reliable seal on small blood vessels while ensuring a firm grip during surgical procedures.

Are these forceps suitable for multiple vessel sizes?

They are highly effective for:

  • Small vessels: Providing a complete seal.
  • Larger vessels: Offering temporary occlusion until definitive suturing can be performed.
Can these be reused for multiple procedures?

Yes, these forceps are designed for long-term reusability. Because they are crafted from high-grade stainless steel, they can withstand the rigors of cleaning and sterilization processes over time.

Are these forceps safe for latex-sensitive patients?

Yes. These instruments are completely free of natural rubber latex, making them a safe choice for use in medical settings involving patients with latex sensitivities.

Does this instrument meet professional compliance standards?

Yes. These Sklar Spencer Wells Forceps are TAA compliant (Trade Agreements Act), ensuring they meet the necessary standards for government and institutional purchasing.

Is the straight jaw design ideal for direct access?

The straight jaw configuration is specifically chosen for procedures that require accessing vessels in a direct, unobstructed line. This makes them highly advantageous for standard hemostatic maneuvers.

Is there a long-term quality guarantee provided?

Sklar stands behind the quality of their craftsmanship. These forceps are backed by a lifetime warranty, providing you with peace of mind regarding their durability and performance over the life of the instrument.

Are these forceps ready for immediate surgical use?

Please note that these instruments are provided non-sterile. They must undergo proper cleaning, inspection, and sterilization procedures according to your facility’s protocols before they are ready for use in a surgical environment.
