Description

Sklar Spencer Stitch Scissors are primarily used for suture removal. These scissors have a small hook shaped tip on one blade that slides under sutures to slightly lift them before cutting for removal. This hook also holds the suture so it does not slip off the blade of the scissors prior to cutting. They are most commonly available in lengths of 3-1/2" and 4-1/2" and therefore typically have smaller, more delicate tips that are used for removing smaller sutures. They should not be used for cutting tissue. This product is straight with smooth, blunt/blunt tips and a length of 3-1/2 inches. It also features a delicate pattern.

Frequently asked questions

Does the hook design prevent accidental slipping?

Yes, the unique hook-shaped tip on one blade is specifically engineered to slide beneath the suture. This elevates and secures the suture firmly, preventing it from slipping off the blades during the cutting process.

Is this tool suitable for fine, delicate sutures?

Absolutely. This model features a delicate pattern and smaller tips, making it the ideal choice for procedures that involve removing fine or small-gauge sutures with high precision.

Are these scissors built to withstand frequent clinical use?

Yes, these are constructed from high-quality stainless steel and are designed specifically for repeated reuse, ensuring long-term durability in professional clinical settings.

Is this instrument safe for patients with latex allergies?

Yes, the Sklar Spencer Suture Scissors are guaranteed to be latex-free, as they are not manufactured with any natural rubber latex components.

Can these be used to cut through tissue?

No, these scissors are strictly intended for suture removal only. They should not be used for cutting human tissue.

How does the CensiTrac marking benefit the facility?

The CensiTrac marking facilitates easier tracking, inventory management, and instrument lifecycle monitoring within a clinical environment, supporting standard sterile processing protocols.

Does the design allow for steady handling during use?

Yes, the instrument is designed with ergonomic finger ring handles, which provide the steady control and tactile feedback necessary for precise manipulation during suture removal.

Is this instrument compliant with trade regulations?

Yes, the Sklar Spencer Suture Scissors are fully TAA compliant, meeting the requirements for government and institutional procurement.

Do the blades have a specific tip style for safety?

Yes, these scissors utilize a blunt/blunt (B/B) tip configuration. This design prioritizes patient safety by minimizing the risk of accidental punctures while the hook tip manages the suture.

What is the recommended way to maintain these scissors?

As these are reusable professional-grade instruments, they should be cleaned, inspected, and sterilized according to your facility’s protocols for stainless steel surgical tools before each use.
