Frequently asked questions

Are these forceps suitable for delicate cardiothoracic procedures?

Yes, these forceps are specifically designed for cardiothoracic surgery. They function as a ratcheted hemostat to provide precise and secure clamping during delicate operations.

What is the benefit of the hybrid blade design?

The hybrid blade design features a combination of partial serration and a smooth surface. This configuration is highly advantageous because:

  • The serrated section ensures a secure grip on arteries.
  • The smooth section facilitates the application of suture tape around vessels without damaging them.
Is this surgical instrument made of high-quality materials?

Absolutely. This instrument is constructed from durable stainless steel, ensuring it meets the high standards required for professional surgical use and repeated sterilization.

Is the material safe for patients with sensitivities?

Yes, the instrument is latex-free and not manufactured with natural rubber latex, making it a safe choice for patients with latex allergies.

Does the fully curved profile aid in specific surgeries?

Yes, the fully curved profile is specifically engineered to improve access to complex anatomical locations within the chest cavity during cardiac and pulmonary procedures.

What does the CensiTrac marking indicate?

The CensiTrac marking identifies this as an instrument compatible with advanced instrument tracking systems, which assists medical facilities in managing the sterilization, usage, and maintenance cycles of their surgical tools.

Are these forceps designed to be reused?

Yes, this instrument is classified as reusable. It is built for durability and is designed to withstand the rigorous cleaning and sterilization processes required in a clinical setting.

Is the ratcheting mechanism reliable for temporary occlusion?

Yes, the integrated ratcheted finger ring mechanism allows the surgeon to lock the forceps at a specific tension, providing reliable, hands-free, and temporary occlusion of arteries when needed.

Are these forceps TAA compliant?

Yes, this product is fully TAA compliant, meeting the requirements for supply to government and federal medical facilities.

How do these compare to other forceps like the Sarot?

Compared to instruments like the Sarot and Overholt Fino, the Rumel Thoracic Forceps feature longer jaws while still maintaining the distinctive half-serrated/half-smooth blade configuration, offering surgeons a unique balance of reach and precision.
