Description

Sklar Rochester-Oschner (Kocher) Forceps are a heavy instrument designed to aggressively grasp medium to heavy tissue or occlude heavy, dense vessels. They have horizontal serrations the entire length of the jaw as well as 1 X 2 teeth at the tip. The combination of full serrations plus teeth ensure a firm grip on the tissue or vessel being held. Rochester-Oschner Forceps are available either curved or straight and in multiple lengths. These forceps are sometimes referred to as simply Oschner Forceps, however, Rochester-Oschner Forceps are actually heavier than standard Oschner Forceps. This product is straight with full, horizontally serrated jaws, 1 X 2 teeth, and a length of 5-1/2 inches.

Yes, these Rochester-Ochsner (Kocher) forceps are specifically engineered for aggressive grasping of medium to heavy tissue. The design is ideal for clinical settings where a firm, secure hold on dense structures is required.

Does the tip design help prevent slippage?

Absolutely. The forceps utilize a dual-grip mechanism:

How should these be prepared for the first use?

These forceps are shipped non-sterile. They must undergo proper cleaning, sterilization, and processing according to your facility’s protocols before being used in a clinical procedure.

What is the benefit of the Rochester-Ochsner style?

The Rochester-Ochsner (Kocher) design is specifically built for robust manipulation. Compared to standard forceps, it provides superior leverage and gripping power, making it a core instrument for trays that require heavy-duty vessel occlusion.
