Description

Sklar Rochester-Oschner Forceps are a heavy instrument designed to aggressively grasp medium to heavy tissue or occlude heavy, dense vessels. They have horizontal serrations the entire length of the jaw as well as 1 X 2 teeth at the tip. The combination of full serrations plus teeth ensure a firm grip on the tissue or vessel being held. Rochester-Oschner Forceps are available either curved or straight and in multiple lengths. These forceps are sometimes referred to as simply Oschner Forceps, however, Rochester-Oschner Forceps are actually heavier than standard Oschner Forceps. This product is straight with full, horizontally serrated jaws, 1 X 2 teeth, and a length of 5-1/4 inches. It also features a delicate pattern.

Frequently asked questions

Are these forceps suitable for holding dense tissue securely?

Yes, these forceps are specifically engineered for robust tasks. They feature 1x2 teeth at the tips and full horizontal serrations along the entire length of the jaws, ensuring a very firm and secure grip on medium to heavy tissue or dense vessels.

Is high-quality stainless steel used in the construction?

Absolutely. These instruments are crafted from durable stainless steel, designed to withstand the rigors of repeated surgical use while maintaining structural integrity.

Can I rely on these for long-term clinical use?

Yes, these are designed to be reusable surgical instruments. They are built for longevity and are fully backed by Sklar’s lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects, providing excellent long-term value for clinical settings.

How does the ratchet mechanism perform during surgery?

The forceps are equipped with a dependable ratchet mechanism located on the finger-ring handles. This allows you to lock the instrument securely in place, maintaining consistent pressure and occlusion without requiring continuous manual force.

Is this model TAA compliant for government procurement?

Yes, this specific model meets TAA compliance requirements, making it an appropriate choice for U.S. government procurement needs.

Does this tool contain natural rubber latex?

No, this product is not made with natural rubber latex, ensuring it is safe to use for patients or staff with latex sensitivities.

Are these forceps supplied in a sterile state?

These instruments are supplied non-sterile. They will require appropriate cleaning and sterilization protocols according to your facility’s standard operating procedures before they are ready for surgical use.

Is the delicate pattern still strong enough for demanding work?

Yes, despite the ‘delicate’ classification, this instrument is designed specifically for aggressive grasping and vessel occlusion. The delicate designation refers to the profile design, while the heavy-duty jaws and teeth are engineered for tough, dense tissue.

Are these suitable for linear surgical access?

The straight, 5-1/4 inch design makes these forceps ideal for applications where access along a linear plane is required, providing excellent reach and control for straightforward procedures.

How should I maintain these to ensure they last?

To ensure the longevity of your stainless steel instruments: - Always follow your facility’s sterilization and cleaning protocols. - Inspect the ratchet and teeth regularly to ensure they remain functional. - Because they are reusable, proper decontamination between uses is essential to maintain the quality and precision of the grip.
