Description

Sklar Rochester-Oschner (Kocher) Forceps are a heavy instrument designed to aggressively grasp medium to heavy tissue or occlude heavy, dense vessels. They have horizontal serrations the entire length of the jaw as well as 1 X 2 teeth at the tip. The combination of full serrations plus teeth ensure a firm grip on the tissue or vessel being held. Rochester-Oschner Forceps are available either curved or straight and in multiple lengths. These forceps are sometimes referred to as simply Oschner Forceps, however, Rochester-Oschner Forceps are actually heavier than standard Oschner Forceps. This product is straight with full, horizontally serrated jaws, 1 X 2 teeth, and a length of 5-1/2 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Are these forceps suitable for dense tissue?

Yes, these are specifically engineered as heavy-duty instruments. They are designed for the aggressive grasping of medium to heavy tissue or the occlusion of dense vessels where a secure, non-slip hold is required.

What makes the grip so reliable?

The forceps utilize a dual-gripping mechanism for maximum retention:

  • Full horizontal serrations along the entire length of the jaw.
  • 1x2 teeth at the tip to ensure a firm bite and prevent tissue slippage.
Can these be reused multiple times?

Absolutely. These forceps are constructed from high-grade stainless steel and are fully intended for repeated surgical use. They are durable, long-lasting, and designed to withstand the rigors of a clinical environment.

Does the ratchet mechanism provide hands-free security?

Yes. The integrated ratchet locking mechanism allows you to securely clamp the forceps onto tissue or vessels and maintain that pressure without needing to apply continuous manual force.

Is the material safe for those with latex sensitivities?

Yes, these forceps are not made with natural rubber latex, making them a safe choice for surgical environments where latex-free equipment is required.

How do these compare to standard Oschner forceps?

These are considered heavier and more robust than standard Oschner forceps. They are specifically built to handle more aggressive surgical applications where additional strength and a more secure hold are necessary.

Are these instruments TAA compliant?

Yes, this model meets all Trade Agreements Act (TAA) requirements, making them an excellent choice for government procurement and facilities that require TAA-compliant instrumentation.

Do these forceps come sterile?

These forceps are supplied non-sterile. They should be processed and sterilized according to your facility’s standard protocols for reusable surgical instrumentation before their first use.

Is the quality backed by a long-term guarantee?

Yes, Sklar stands behind the quality and durability of these forceps with a lifetime warranty, providing you with long-term peace of mind regarding your investment.

What is the total length of this instrument?

This specific model measures 5-1/2 inches in length, offering a compact yet highly effective tool for precise, controlled manipulation during procedures.
