Description

Sklar Rochester-Oschner (Kocher) Forceps are a heavy instrument designed to aggressively grasp medium to heavy tissue or occlude heavy, dense vessels. They have horizontal serrations the entire length of the jaw as well as 1 X 2 teeth at the tip. The combination of full serrations plus teeth ensure a firm grip on the tissue or vessel being held. Rochester-Oschner Forceps are available either curved or straight and in multiple lengths. These forceps are sometimes referred to as simply Oschner Forceps, however, Rochester-Oschner Forceps are actually heavier than standard Oschner Forceps. This product is curved with full, horizontally serrated jaws, and a length of 5-1/2 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Are these forceps suitable for holding dense tissue?

Yes, these are designed specifically for aggressive grasping of medium to heavy tissue and the occlusion of dense vessels. Their heavy-duty construction is engineered for secure, sustained tissue management.

Does the tip provide an extra-secure hold?

Absolutely. The forceps feature a specialized dual-gripping design: 1. 1x2 teeth at the tip for penetration and grip, and 2. full-length horizontal serrations to ensure the tissue or vessel remains securely clamped.

Is the material durable enough for frequent sterilization?

Yes, these are constructed from high-quality stainless steel and are fully reusable. They are built to withstand repeated sterilization cycles, making them a long-term, reliable tool for surgical environments.

Can I lock the forceps in place during use?

Yes, the instrument includes a built-in ratchet locking mechanism. This allows the forceps to maintain a sustained grip on tissue without requiring you to apply continuous manual pressure.

Are these forceps made without any latex?

Yes, this product is not made with natural rubber latex, making it suitable for environments where latex-free instruments are required.

Are these considered TAA compliant?

Yes, this instrument is fully TAA (Trade Agreements Act) compliant, meeting the standards required for government and institutional procurement.

How substantial is the construction of this model?

These are considered heavy-duty surgical instruments. Their design is notably more substantial and robust than standard Oschner forceps, providing the strength needed for demanding surgical procedures.

Are these supplied in a sterile state?

No, these instruments are supplied non-sterile. They will require standard sterilization processing before their first use in a clinical setting.

Is the quality guaranteed for long-term use?

Yes, Sklar backs this instrument with a Lifetime Warranty, reflecting the high-grade stainless steel construction and the durable nature of this professional-grade surgical tool.

What is the primary benefit of the curved jaw profile?

The curved configuration allows for better visibility and access during procedures, enabling the surgeon to navigate around anatomy while effectively grasping or occluding vessels and tissues.
