Description

Sklar Rochester-Oschner Forceps are a heavy instrument designed to aggressively grasp medium to heavy tissue or occlude heavy, dense vessels. They have horizontal serrations the entire length of the jaw as well as 1 X 2 teeth at the tip. The combination of full serrations plus teeth ensure a firm grip on the tissue or vessel being held. Rochester-Oschner Forceps are available either curved or straight and in multiple lengths. These forceps are sometimes referred to as simply Oschner Forceps, however, Rochester-Oschner Forceps are actually heavier than standard Oschner Forceps. This product is straight with full, horizontally serrated jaws, 1 X 2 teeth, and a length of 8 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Are these forceps designed for heavy-duty surgical use?

Yes, these are specifically engineered as heavy instruments designed for the aggressive grasping of medium to heavy tissue and the occlusion of dense vessels, ensuring reliable performance in demanding procedures.

How secure is the grip on dense tissue?

The grip is designed for maximum security through a dual-mechanism approach: 1. Full-length horizontal serrations for constant friction. 2. 1x2 teeth at the tip for precise, sharp purchase on tissue or vessels, preventing slippage.

Is the stainless steel high-quality enough for repeated sterilization?

Yes, this instrument is manufactured to Sklar or Grade standards using high-grade stainless steel, ensuring the durability required for a reusable surgical instrument.

Does this tool come with a locking mechanism for hands-free operation?

Absolutely. The forceps feature an integrated ratchet mechanism located near the finger rings, allowing the surgeon to lock the instrument in place securely during a procedure.

Is this product suitable for environments with strict compliance standards?

Yes, this instrument is TAA (Trade Agreements Act) compliant, making it fully suitable for use within US government facilities and other highly regulated surgical environments.

Does the instrument contain any natural rubber latex?

No, the Sklar Rochester-Ochsner Forceps are 100% latex-free, minimizing the risk of allergic reactions for both medical staff and patients.

Is this specific model the straight version?

Yes, this model features a straight configuration, which is ideal for accessing tissues along a linear path or for procedures requiring precise, straight-line placement.

What is the benefit of the CensiTrac marking?

The CensiTrac marking indicates that the instrument is compatible with advanced instrument tracking systems, facilitating efficient asset management and workflow tracking within a sterile processing department.

Does this product require any special maintenance due to its material?

As a professional-grade stainless steel instrument, it is designed for repeated use. While it is delivered non-sterile, it is fully compatible with standard surgical instrument cleaning and sterilization protocols.

Is there a long-term guarantee on the construction quality?

Yes, Sklar stands behind the manufacturing quality of this instrument with a Lifetime Warranty, reflecting their confidence in the durability and craftsmanship of the tool.
