Description

Sklar Rochester-Oschner (Kocher) Forceps are a heavy instrument designed to aggressively grasp medium to heavy tissue or occlude heavy, dense vessels. They have horizontal serrations the entire length of the jaw as well as 1 X 2 teeth at the tip. The combination of full serrations plus teeth ensure a firm grip on the tissue or vessel being held. Rochester-Oschner Forceps are available either curved or straight and in multiple lengths. These forceps are sometimes referred to as simply Oschner Forceps, however, Rochester-Oschner Forceps are actually heavier than standard Oschner Forceps. This product is straight with full, horizontally serrated jaws, 1 X 2 teeth, and a length of 5-1/2 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Does this instrument handle heavy tissue effectively?

Yes, these are heavy-duty surgical instruments specifically engineered for aggressive grasping. They are designed for manipulating medium to heavy tissue or occluding dense vessels where a standard forceps might not suffice.

How does the tip design ensure a secure grip?

The forceps utilize a dual-action gripping mechanism to ensure an unwavering hold:

  • 1x2 Teeth: Provide a deep, anchoring bite at the tip.
  • Full Horizontal Serrations: Run the entire length of the jaw to provide uniform pressure and traction across the tissue or vessel.
Is the stainless steel construction durable for long-term use?

Absolutely. These instruments are crafted from high-quality, durable stainless steel designed to withstand the rigors of frequent use in demanding surgical environments. Furthermore, the product is backed by a Lifetime warranty, reflecting its long-term reliability.

What is the benefit of the CensiTrac marking?

The CensiTrac marking facilitates modern instrument tracking and management within sterile processing departments, ensuring better accountability and efficiency in clinical inventory systems.

Are these forceps suitable for repeated sterilization?

Yes, these are reusable instruments. They are constructed to be cleaned and sterilized repeatedly according to standard medical protocols for stainless steel surgical devices.

Is the material safe for patients with sensitivities?

Yes, these forceps are not made with natural rubber latex, making them a safe choice for surgical environments involving patients with latex allergies.

How comfortable is the instrument during a procedure?

The design features ergonomic finger rings that provide the surgeon with precise handling control and a secure grip, even during intensive surgical maneuvers.

Is this tool compliant with government procurement standards?

Yes, this product is TAA compliant, meeting the requirements for use in government and federally-supported medical facilities.

What is the specific curvature of this model?

This particular model is curved, allowing for better visibility and access when working in deep or confined surgical fields where a straight instrument might obstruct the line of sight.

Does the instrument arrive ready for immediate surgical use?

These instruments are shipped as non-sterile. Before their first use and any subsequent uses, they must be processed through your facility’s standard sterilization procedures.
