Description

Sklar's Rochester-Carmalt homeostatic forceps are a standard type of clamp used in several procedures. These forceps have longitudinal serrations the entire length of the jaw, and the tips are cross-serrated. The fully serrated working surface allows this instrument to have greater grip on heavy or tough tissue and stop blood flow of large vessels. The ratcheted handle allows locking on larger tissue for hemostats. Rochester-Carmalt Forceps are available curved or straight and in a variety of lengths.

Frequently asked questions

Does the jaw design provide a reliable grip?

Yes, the Rochester-Carmalt forceps are engineered for maximum surface contact. The jaws feature:

  • Longitudinal serrations running the full length for steady pressure.
  • Cross-serrations at the tips to ensure a secure, non-slip hold on dense tissues.
Is this instrument safe for those with latex allergies?

Absolutely. This product is manufactured without natural rubber latex, making it a safe choice for surgical environments where latex-free materials are required.

How durable is the construction for repeated use?

These forceps are crafted from high-quality stainless steel, designed specifically for repeated sterilization and long-term professional use. They are fully reusable and built to withstand the rigors of surgical settings.

Can the handle be locked during a procedure?

Yes, the instrument includes a secure ratcheted handle with finger rings. This mechanism allows the surgeon to lock the clamp onto tissue firmly, ensuring it remains in place throughout the procedure without requiring constant manual pressure.

Is this tool effective for controlling large vessel bleeding?

Yes, the Rochester-Carmalt is specifically designed for hemostatic applications. Its robust working surface and high-grip jaw design make it highly effective at clamping large blood vessels to achieve reliable hemostasis.

Does this product meet professional procurement standards?

Yes, this instrument is TAA (Trade Agreements Act) compliant, ensuring it meets the necessary standards for government and institutional procurement.

Should I be aware of any specific cleaning requirements?

As a reusable stainless steel instrument, it should be processed according to your facility’s standard surgical instrument cleaning and sterilization protocols. It is shipped non-sterile and must be sterilized before its first use.

Is the curved design suitable for deep tissue access?

The 10-inch curved profile is purposefully designed to improve visibility and access in surgical cavities, allowing for more ergonomic manipulation of tissues and vessels in hard-to-reach areas compared to straight forceps.

What kind of quality guarantee comes with this purchase?

This product is covered by a lifetime warranty, reflecting the manufacturer’s commitment to the quality and longevity of their precision-engineered surgical instruments.

Are these forceps appropriate for veterinary use?

Yes, these are designed for professional medical and veterinary use. They are a standard, essential component for operating room instrument trays where high-grip tissue management is required.
