Frequently asked questions

Is this retractor suitable for deep tissue procedures?

Yes, this instrument is specifically engineered for deep tissue retraction. It is a go-to tool for surgical procedures requiring reliable tissue management, such as:

  • Appendectomies
  • Cesarean Sections
  • Laparotomies
Does the design prioritize surgeon comfort and control?

Absolutely. The handle is designed with ergonomics in mind, featuring:

  • A hollow construction to keep the instrument lightweight.
  • Integrated finger ridges to provide a superior, secure grip, ensuring precise control during long or demanding surgeries.
Is high-quality material used for durability?

Yes, this retractor is manufactured from high-grade stainless steel. This material choice ensures the instrument is:

  • Highly durable for repetitive use.
  • Reliable through multiple sterilization cycles.
  • Resistant to the wear and tear common in active surgical environments.
How does the blade design aid in tissue manipulation?

The blade features a thoughtful right-angled, concave geometry measuring 3/4” x 2”. It is specifically crafted with a slight lip at the tip, which allows for more controlled engagement and effective retraction of tissue layers.

Is this product safe for latex-sensitive environments?

Yes, this instrument is explicitly constructed without the use of natural rubber latex, making it a safe choice for surgical environments with latex sensitivity protocols.

Can this be integrated into facilities requiring CensiTrac tracking?

Yes, this specific model comes CensiTrac marked. This allows for seamless integration into inventory management or asset tracking systems that utilize this specific surgical instrument tracing standard.

Is this a reusable surgical instrument?

Yes, this is a reusable surgical instrument. It is designed to be cleaned and sterilized according to your facility’s standard protocols for stainless steel surgical tools, making it a sustainable and cost-effective choice for recurring surgical trays.

How does this compare to a Kelly retractor?

While it functions similarly to a Kelly retractor, this Richardson retractor is distinct due to its smaller blade size. This allows surgeons to choose the precise level of retraction needed for specific anatomical areas or procedure types.

Are there any specific compliance standards met by this tool?

Yes, this product is TAA compliant. This ensures it meets the regulatory standards required for procurement within many government and institutional healthcare settings.

What is the total length of the instrument?

This retractor has an overall length of 9-1/2 inches, providing the necessary reach and leverage required for effective deep tissue retraction while maintaining a balanced feel in the hand.
